Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was Don doing at the beginning of the film?

Answer: Shredding money

The movie opened with a scene of all the money on the floor and the sound of a paper shredder. Don had the paper shredder over the toilet and was putting the money in. He asked Bridget for more money and he commented that it would take all night. Soon after, Bridget left the house with a bag full of money.

The movie actually went back to this same scene once it caught back up with the present.
2. Why did Bridget get a job at the Federal Reserve?

Answer: Don lost his job and they didn't have any money.

Don had been without work for a year and they had accrued a debt of $286,000. Don had decided that they would have to sell the house and move into something smaller so that they could use the money from the house to pay the bills. Bridget did not want to have to live without the things she was accustomed to, so she started to look for a job.

She finally got a job as a janitor at the Federal Reserve, after her housekeeper told her about it.
3. When Nina and Bridget were thinking about including Jackie in their plan, they saw her in the parking lot and she dropped her purse. They found a needle with her stuff and gave it back to her. Why did she have a needle in her purse?

Answer: She was diabetic.

Nina and Bridget both assumed that Jackie was a drug addict when they saw the needle and they were hesitant to talk to her about helping them. When they did talk to her and she agreed, they gave her a speech about the drugs and not letting them interfere with their work.

She didn't tell them the truth about the diabetes, but she did tell the detective that was interrogating her after they got caught. She told him that she found out she had early-onset diabetes when she was nine.
4. Six months after starting to steal money from the Federal Reserve, the three women and Don were having dinner together and were talking about whether or not they should continue stealing money. Two of the women agreed that they wanted more money, but who was the first one to say that she wanted to keep going?

Answer: Bridget

Bridget was Don's wife and was the one who came up with the idea to start stealing the money. She was also the one who came up with how to steal the money and she found people to help her. She was always very well-dressed and well-kept.

Everyone was eating at a very nice restaurant and Bridget said that she wanted to keep going. Don and Nina disagreed and said that it was a bad idea. They knew that people got caught when they got greedy and started spending money they couldn't explain. They finally agreed to keep going, but Nina made it clear that she wouldn't be a part of it any longer if they kept spending.
5. What did Nina do with the expensive ring that Bridget bought?

Answer: She flushed it down the toilet.

After they had discussed whether or not to keep stealing the money, they determined that they would continue but they would have to be careful and not spend the money. Nina confronted Bridget in the bathroom and thought she was spending the money. She saw that Bridget was wearing a huge diamond ring and she took it from her and threw it in the toilet.

She then flushed it down the toilet and told Bridget not to spend the money.
6. Which one of the other Federal Reserve employees discovered that the women were stealing money?

Answer: Barry

Barry was a security guard for the Federal Reserve. He sometimes guarded the shredding room or watched the monitors and was always one of the guards to check purses and belongings before the employees left every day. He ended up dating Nina after he got in on their operation and they got married.

Barry discovered what the women were up to one day when they lost one of the keys and Nina was having trouble with the lock. After work, he confronted her in the parking lot and they got in the car to talk. He told her to tell the others that their operation was over. They decided that Nina should try and convince him to join them so they wouldn't have to stop.
7. What did Bridget say crime was, when she was talking to Richard Mandelbrot?

Answer: "Contagious"

Before flashing back to three years earlier, when everything began, Bridget was talking about crime. Her full conversation at the hotel with Richard was shown later in the movie after everyone was arrested. He approached her while she was eating in the hotel and talked to her about the money.

He wanted to know how much they had taken and why they did it. She said, "Well, I have a theory. Crime is contagious." He just listened to her and when she asked what the others really got out of the whole thing, he said "A giant, untraceable fortune," to which she responded, "Prove it."
8. Who was the only one of the partners in crime to not get arrested?

Answer: Bridget

The night that the police were going to arrest everyone, Bridget got out of the house while Don was shredding the money. She filled a bag with money and took a steak to coax the neighbor's dog to stop barking. She managed to get out of the house and into the car without the police noticing.

She got to a hotel and was confronted by Richard Mandelbrot, but he didn't have the authority to arrest her. She hired a lawyer to help her get her friends out of jail.
9. Where did Bridget have her 'mad money' hidden?

Answer: Junior's bar

Junior's bar was where the women would meet every time they wanted to talk about their plans. He would sometimes overhear part of their conversation and make comments, but they were regulars and he would sometimes give them free drinks.

The women met at Junior's bar eight months after everything was resolved with the police and the IRS. Bridget said that she and Don planned to move to the Caribbean and open a bed and breakfast, but they wanted to wait until it wasn't so 'hot'. She told them that her mother always taught her that every woman should have 'mad money' hid away in case she ever needed it. She took the others to the freezer in the basement of Junior's bar and showed them where she had her 'mad money' hid.
10. Why didn't the women steal any money, the first time Nina took the lock to work and gave them the signal in the lunchroom?

Answer: Jackie had a bad feeling about it.

In the lunchroom, Bridget gave the signal to Nina who then gave it to Jackie. Jackie started shaking her head to say "no" and they all met in the bathroom to talk about it. Jackie said that she didn't want to do it because she had a really bad feeling and that they should take her feelings seriously. Nina and Bridget were upset and sorry they picked her to help out.

When the employees were leaving that day, they were given a random search and the women would have been caught had it not been for Jackie's feeling.
