1. (1989) Riggs and Murtaugh are back, and as usual they're not capable of doing what they're told. This time they manage to get themselves tangled up with South African diplomats, even though all they're supposed to be doing is babysitting a federal witness by the name of Leo Getz.
2. (1994) It has been a long night for Scott Calvin. First some guy in a red suit falls off his roof and vanishes, leaving only the suit behind. So he puts on the suit and the next thing he knows he's delivering toys around the world and having a sleepover at the North Pole. But it isn't until almost a year later, when Christmas is approaching again, that he begins to believe that he really has become Santa.
3. (1981) This wonderful action movie tells the story of an archeologist's desperate attempt to find the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis do. Steven Spielberg's collaboration with George Lucas created a new and wonderful hero whose name has become a household word.
4. (1994) The 'He Man Woman Hater's Club' learns a lot about discrimination in this movie, based on an old television show. First they have to deal with such tragedies as having their clubhouse burn down and their car stolen just before the big race.
5. (1988) Lawrence Jamieson has taste and class, and he makes a lot of money running scams off of rich tourists in the French Riviera. Freddy Benson is a two bit grifter, who is about to intrude in Jamieson's territory. After an unsuccessful attempt to have Benson removed, the two men enter into a competition for the right to work the area. Unfortunately what they don't realize is that the mark that they've chosen is also a con-man, or should I say con-woman?
6. (1983) First they have to rescue Han from Jabba the Hutt, then Luke returns to Dagobah in time to be there when Yoda dies. After that they have to blow up the shield generator on the Forest Moon of Endor so that the fleet can destroy the second Death Star, with the Emperor on board, and restore order to the universe.
7. (1960) Fleeing with some stolen money, Marion Crane (played by Janet Leigh) makes an unfortunate stop at the Bates Motel. Norman Bates is a really nice guy, but sadly Marion meets up with his mother. Mom intrudes while Marion's taking a shower, in a scene that had many people preferring to bathe for a long time afterwards. This is arguably one of Hitchcock's most famous movies.
8. (2002) Sam and Richard are two very smart young men. They're so smart that they believe that they can pull off the perfect murder, and never get caught. What they didn't count on was the tenacity of Detective Cassie Mayweather, played by Sandra Bullock, whose past experience as a victim drives her to solve the murder and find vindication for the murdered girl.
9. (1975) Randle Patrick McMurphy (Jack Nicholson), sent to jail for statutory rape, thinks that his time will pass a little easier if he serves it on a psych ward instead of in prison. So he manages to convince them that he's crazy and gets himself tranferred. What he doesn't realize is that, that means that he's placed himself in the hands of Head Nurse Ratched, and she doesn't like to lose. Based on a wonderful novel by Ken Kesey.
10. (1986) The crew of the Enterprise has to go back to 20th century Earth to bring back two Humpback Whales, a species that had been hunted to extinction. They have to do this because an alien probe has come to investigate why its signal to the whales is no longer being answered. The signal from the probe becomes so strong as it nears the Earth, that it threatens to wipe out all life on the planet.
11. (1954) Tony is a retired tennis pro, who realizes he is in danger of losing his wife to her American lover. He's not really all that concerned about losing his wife, but he is a bit concerned about having to live without her money. So he arranges for an old school mate to murder his wife when he is safely alibied at a Bachelor Party. His plan is to call his wife, luring her to the phone where she would be an easy target. But she fights back and kills her would-be killer, and he has to make a quick change in plans.
12. (1997) Melvin is an obsessive compulsive author who says whatever pops into his head. Carol is the only waitress that can serve him to his satisfaction, but she misses a lot of time off work because of her sick son. Simon is Melvin's artist neighbour, a homosexual who is badly beaten by a model he had paid to paint. Together they form the most unlikely trio of friends that you'd ever want to meet, but friends they become, each one learning from the other.
13. (1954) When Davis and Wallace follow the Haynes sisters to Vermont during the Christmas season, they expect to find a lot of snow. Instead they find General Thomas Waverly, the man they served under during the war, now the proud owner of a ski lodge with no snow. But not to worry, thay have no intentions of letting the General go down without a fight, or at least not without a lot of singing and dancing.
14. (1996) This delightful movie, based on a Roald Dahl book, is about a little girl who has the power to move things with her mind. Sadly she was born into a family who didn't want her, and sent to the worst possible school around. So when she finally finds a teacher she can love, and who loves her back, she'll do whatever she can to keep that teacher in her life.
15. (1967) Christina and Matt Drayton raised their daughter to not be prejudiced, and they did a good job. In fact they did such a good job that she's chosen an African American to marry, a Dr. John Wade Prentice. Now Matt and Christina have to test the extent of their own beliefs, as do Dr. Prentice's parents. Stanley Kramer directed this ground-breaking movie, starring Sidney Poitier.
