Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who did NOT appear in both the original "Nightmare on Elm Street" and "New Nightmare"?

Answer: Robert Shaye

Robert Shaye is the producer of all the movies in the series. He had cameos in a few of these movies:
In "The Dream Master", he was the lecturer teaching the kids about the dream master.
In "Freddy's Dead", he was the bus ticket seller.
In the "New Nightmare", he played his own role.
In "Freddy vs Jason", he was the Principal.
He was also seen in an episode of "Freddy's Nightmares" but he was not in the first movie.
Nick Corri played Rod Lane in the original movie and himself in the "New Nightmare".
Lin Shaye, who is Robert Shaye's sister, played a teacher in "Nightmare on Elm Street" and played a nurse in the "New Nightmare".
John Saxon played Donald Thompson in the original movie and himself in the "New Nightmare".
2. In the original "Nightmare on Elm Street", Glenn told his mom that he was at his aunt's place who lived near what?

Answer: an airport

Because he wanted to spend the night at Tina's and was not allowed to, Glenn Lantz, played by Johnny Depp, was trying to play a tape of sound effects. He wanted his mom to think he was actually at his aunt's place near the airport, but all he was able to play was a car crash.
3. In what American state is Springwood, the town where the story of "Nightmare on Elm Street" takes place?

Answer: Ohio

We find out at some point that the action takes place in Ohio state, although in the first "Nightmare on Elm Street", they shot a scene with palm trees in the background.
4. What was the "technicality" that forced the authorities to free Freddy Krueger back in the early days, when he was a child murderer?

Answer: a signature

Someone did not sign the warrant that had led to Freddy Krueger's arrest, so the authorities had to release him. That's when the parents got together and "roasted him like a Thanksgiving turkey!" (quote from "The Dream Master" from Rick Johnson to Dan Jordan as they are walking toward Freddy's house.)
5. Who is L.E. Moko?

Answer: Robert Shaye

L.E. Moko is the alias that Robert Shaye, the producer of all "Nightmare on Elm Street" movies, uses when he appears in a movie. He's had cameos in four of the Nightmare movies and a few others that he produced working at New Line Cinema for which he is the co-CEO.
6. Who directed "Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors?"

Answer: Chuck Russell

Chuck Russell is a producer, a director, a production manager, a writer and an actor. He worked on many movies as an executive producer such as "Collateral" starring Tom Cruise and "Back to School" starring Rodney Dangerfield. His directing career includes "The Mask" starring Jim Carrey, "The Scorpion King" starring The Rock, 1988's version of "The Blob" and, of course, "Dream Warriors", which he also co-wrote.
Wes Craven did not direct "Dream Warriors", he wrote the script. As a director, he only worked on the original movie and on "New Nightmare".
Robert Shaye was never a director, he was the producer of the whole series.
Renny Harlin directed "The Dream Master".
7. Who was "Elm Street's last brat"?

Answer: Kristen Parker

In "The Dream Master", right before Freddy killed Kristen, he told her: "Elm Street's last brat...and now you're all alone!" She was the last child of the ones who killed Freddy Krueger.
8. What musical band was never featured in ANY form in the Nightmare movies?

Answer: Dream Theater

There was a poster of "Stray Cats" in a bedroom in "Freddy's Revenge".
"Dokken" had 2 tracks on the "Dream Warriors" movie soundtrack ("Into the fire" - heard when Kristen was trying to stay awake making the cardboard house. "Dream Warriors"- heard during the credits.)
"Goo Goo Dolls" had 3 tracks on the "Freddy's Dead" movie soundtrack ("I'm awake now"- heard when the kids and Maggie arrived in Springwood. "You know what I mean" and "Two days in February" were on the original soudtrack release).
9. Which "Nightmare on Elm Street" movie does NOT star a recording artist?

Answer: Freddy's Revenge

Tuesday Knight, who played Kristen Parker in "The Dream Master", is a recording artist, she sang the opening scene's track called "Nightmare".
Alice Cooper played the role of Freddy's dad in "Freddy's Dead". Kelly Rowland of "Destiny's Child" was Kia in "Freddy vs Jason".
10. In the opening scene of "Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master", whose quote was shown?

Answer: Job

In the opening credits of three of the "Nightmare" movies, there was a quote that was chosen for its relation to nightmares. All the quotes that were picked have a strong relevance to the story of "Nightmare On Elm Street".
"Do you know the terror of he who falls asleep? To the toes he is very terrified, because the ground gives the way under him, and the dream begins..." -Friedrich Nietzsche - (opening credit of "Freddy's Dead")
