Sean drew his character from real life Governor George Wallace, who was once Governor of Alabama. In 1973, Governor Wallace was shot and left paralyzed until his death in 1989. As governor he served four terms, two consecutive and two nonconsecutive.

Jack talks with Judge Irwin, who is Jack's godfather. He has raised Jack since the death of Jack's father. He informs the judge that he is working as an advisor for Willie. The judge tells him he disapproves of Stark and he only sees him as an opportunist.

Jack does not approve of Willie having affairs with several different women. One woman in particular angers him the most, and that is Anne Stanton. Anne Stanton is a woman who Jack has been in love with ever since they were children.
Now she is having an affair with Willie. Besides sex, the only reason Willie started the relationship is because the Stantons are a wealthy family and Willie plans to extort money from their family charity fund for himself.

Dr. Adam Stanton is a meek and gentle man with a heart of gold. He is also the brother of Anne Stanton. Willie wants to build a public hospital and have Dr. Stanton run it. Willie intends to cut corners and have it cheaply built. If anything goes wrong Dr. Stanton will be the fall guy.

Willie learns the judge has taken a bribe in the past and wants Jack to get the proof. But since the death of Jack's father the judge treats Jack as his own. After learning that Jack has found evidence that the judge took a bribe, the judge commits suicide. Jack learns from his mother the judge is his father.

Dr. Stanton is a gentle soul who is a bit naive. Willie has offered him the position of Administrator/Chief of Staff. Willie will use Adam as a scapegoat if anything should happen. Jack also tells him what Willie is planning to do in regards to the hospital. Willie is also having an affair with Adam's sister Anne. Adam becomes enraged with Willie. Jack also tells him the reason why the Judge committed suicide.

It is too much for him to take. Adam has a break down and kills Willie before anyone can stop him. Sugar Boy then shoots Adam, killing him.
