The real Swifty Morgan (Chuck Connors) challenged conman Latigo Smith (James Garner) to a showdown. Just as Swifty pulled out his gun to shoot, another explosion shook the town, causing Swifty to shoot himself in the foot.

Gene Wilder played a rabbi with a fluffy beard and a Torah scroll who had adventures on the way to San Francisco with Tommy Lillard (Harrison Ford), a soft-hearted bank robber who decided to help the innocent rabbi.

However, Jack kept bragging to the members of the posse that they could make a lot more money working for him than working for the man who was about to leave them behind anyway if he got elected.

In "Blazing Saddles" people were in line to sign up to join the hired bunch of goons Hedley wanted to use to attack Rock Ridge so he could sell the land to the railroad. Hedley asked one man what was in his mouth. The man replied, "Nothim." When Hedley discovered that the man was chewing gum, Hedley asked if he brought enough gum for everyone.

The man replied, "I didn't know there would be so many." Hedley shot him. The Waco Kid replied, "He sure is strict."

The Marx Brothers did this western movie, in which they helped a young man try to settle an old family feud. He also tried to marry his girl friend. The Marx Brothers did their regular type of humor, including Chico playing the piano. In one scene someone suggested calling for help, but Groucho made a reference to the movie in which Don Ameche played Alexander Graham Bell, who invented the telephone.

In 1939 a movie called "Destry Rides Again" was released, in which James Stewart played a lawman who usually didn't carry a gun, although he was an expert shot. The saloon owner and criminal boss, Kent, of the Western town, Bottleneck, had the sheriff killed for asking too many questions.

The mayor appointed the town drunk to be the new sheriff, thinking he wouldn't interfere with Kent's crimes, but the sheriff made Tom Destry, Jr. his deputy, who enforced the law.
