1. In 1966, who made his western debut when he played Toller, a 10th cavalry veteran and master horse breaker in "Duel At Diablo"?

Answer: Sidney Poitier

Poitier already had some meaty roles under his belt when he made "Duel At Diablo", having starred in "Blackboard Jungle"(1955), "The Defiant Ones"(1958) and won an Oscar for his role in "Lilies Of The Field"(1963). Poitier co-starred in "Duel At Diablo" with James Garner and Dennis Weaver and would go on to make other westerns such as "Buck And The Preacher"(1972) which he also directed and in which his co- star was Harry Belafonte.
2. In "Chato's Land" (1972), while hunting down the men who raped his wife, Chato attacks one of them by throwing a rattlesnake from a cliff top onto the man's neck. Who played the title role?

Answer: Charles Bronson

Bronson had already starred in movies directed by western greats such as Sergio Leone, John Sturges and Robert Aldrich by the time he made this movie, directed by Michael Winner. 4. "God's Gun" was a 1976 Israeli "spaghetti western" that starred which iconic western actor playing brothers Father John and Lewis?

Answer: Lee Van Cleef

Lee Van Cleef hit the big time when Sergio Leone cast him as ex army bounty hunter, Colonel Douglas Mortimer alongside Clint Eastwood in "For A Few Dollars More" (1965) and then as Angel Eyes in the Leone classic "The Good, The Bad And The Ugly (1966) again alongside Eastwood.

He played many menacing looking but heroic villains in his career, becoming his trademark to such an extent that the inscription on his tombstone reads "Best Of The Bad".

Answer: Franco Nero

Nero always seems to be one those actors that people remember but can't put a name to. From the humble beginnings of spaghetti westerns such as "Django", "Texas, Adios" and "Massacre Time" (all 1966) he has gone on to appear in "Camelot" (1967), playing Lancelot, "The Virgin And The Gypsy" (1970), "Die Hard 2" (1990), "Cars 2" (2011) and many, many more.

His role in "Django Unchained" is that of the original Django who meets Django (Jamie Foxx) and the two Django's discuss how their name is spelled.

Books (Wayne) chooses to live out his short life. Howard is of course famous for his role as Richie Cunningham in "Happy Days" (1974-1984) and for directing movies such as "Cocoon" (1985), "Apollo 13" (1995), "The Da Vinci Code" (2006) and "Solo: A Star Wars Story" (2018) among many others.

Answer: High Noon

Cooper's performance as a newly married town marshal who has to choose between a confrontation with a revenge seeking gunman, and the wishes of his devout Quaker, pacifist bride was a worthy Oscar winner. In the movie, Cooper's new bride was played by Grace Kelly who was only 21 at the time compared to 50 year old Cooper. Cooper's part was originally offered to John Wayne who turned it down and the movie saw the film debut of Lee Van Cleef, in what turned out to be his only non speaking role.

Answer: Ronald Reagan

Reagan starred in many westerns during his acting career alongside some big stars such as Errol Flynn in "Santa Fe Trail" (1940), Lionel Barrymore in "The Bad Man" (1941) and Angie Dickinson in "Tennessee's Partner" (1955). Reagan's wife and future First Lady, Nancy was also an actor, although they only ever appeared in one movie together, 1957's WWII drama, "Hellcats Of The Navy".
10. Regarded by many as the quintessential modern American Western, 1990's "Dances with Wolves" became the first of the genre to win the Academy Award for Best Picture since 1931's "Cimarron". Who played the title character in the movie?

Costner has also starred in westerns "Open Range"(2003), "Silverado" (1985) as well as playing the title role in "Wyatt Earp" (1994).
