Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Michael Biehn:
Answer: The Terminator
Michael Biehn was Reese, the soldier from the future sent to protect Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). Michael Biehn also appeared in the James Cameron-directed films "The Abyss" and "Aliens".
2. Carl Weathers:
Answer: Predator
Carl Weathers played Dillon to Arnie's "Dutch" in this jungle-set sci-fi thriller. Best known as Apollo Creed from the "Rocky" movies, Weathers was once a pro football player for the Oakland Raiders; he retired from football in 1974. Also, look for wrestler/actor/governor Jesse Ventura in this film.
3. Jake Lloyd:
Answer: Jingle All the Way
Jake Lloyd (Anakin Skywalker from "Star Wars: Episode I") played Arnie's son in this Christmas romp, which also starred Sinbad, Rita Wilson, and the late Phil Hartman.
4. James Caan:
Answer: Eraser
James Caan was U.S. Marshal Robert Deguerin, Arnie's co-worker-turned-bad guy. It's hard to believe he was Brian Piccollo in the original "Brian's Song" (1971).
5. F. Murray Abraham:
Answer: Last Action Hero
Academy-Award winner F. Murray Abraham (1984, "Amadeus") was John Practice in this film-within-a-film. My favorite scene: Jack Slater (Arnold) meets Danny Madigan's mother (Academy-Award winner Mercedes Ruehl) and introduces himself as "Arnold Braunschweiger."
6. Rachel Ticotin:
Answer: Total Recall
Rachel Ticotin was Melina, who helped Quaid (or was it Howser? -- Anyway, it was Arnie) activate the atmosphere generator on Mars. I don't really need to say this, but I will: This was Sharon Stone's breakout film, as Quaid's "wife" Lori.
7. Max von Sydow:
Answer: Conan the Barbarian
Max von Sydow was he King Osric in this film. Other Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror roles of his included Emprorer Ming in "Flash Gordon" (1980), Blofeld in "Never Say Never Again" (1983), Dr. Novotny in "Dreamscape" (1984), and Dr. Kynes in "Dune" (1984). Of course, we cannot forget his best-known role: Father Merrin in the first two "Exorcist" movies (1973 and 1977).
8. Tia Carrere:
Answer: True Lies
Tia Carrere (Cassandra of the "Wayne's World" movies -- SCHWING!) was Juno Skinner, the woman who had helped terrorists smuggle weapons to the Florida Keys within archealogical artifacts.
9. Robert Duvall:
Answer: The 6th Day
Duvall was Dr. Griffin Weir in this film, which was directed by Roger Spottiswoode. Duvall had worked with Spottiswoode before, in the movie "The Pursuit of D.B. Cooper" (1981).
10. Vivica A. Fox:
Answer: Batman & Robin
Vivica A. Fox played femme fatale Ms. B. Haven (get it?) in this Batman film. Vivica A. Fox has also appeared in "Booty Call", "Why Do Fools Fall In Love", "Soul Food", and (of course) "Independence Day".
11. John Turturro:
Answer: Collateral Damage
John Turturro, whose movie credits include "Rounders" (1998), "Monkeybone" (2001), and "Mr. Deeds" (2002), played the unscrupulous Armstrong in this film.
12. Emma Thompson:
Answer: Junior
Ms. Merchant-Ivory herself was Dr. Diana Reddin in this movie. Also, co-star Danny DeVito played Arnie's twin brother in "Twins" (1988).
13. Mick Fleetwood:
Answer: The Running Man
Mick Fleetwood (yes, as in Fleetwood Mac) played Mic (pronounced "Mick"), the man in charge of the underworld hideout in the "arena." Look for Jesse Ventura again, this time as Captain Freedom.
14. Penelope Ann Miller:
Answer: Kindergarten Cop
Penelope Ann Miller, whose credits include "Other People's Money" (1991), "Chaplin" (1992), and "The Relic" (1997), played Joyce Palmieri (aka Rachel Crisp), the ex-wife of a suspected drug dealer that Arnie is trying to nab. Arnie took on the undercover assignment of a kindergarten teacher because her son was one of the students (and besides, his partner, played by Pamela Reed, got seriously ill).
15. Now for a twist: In which of the following Arnold Scharzenegger films does Bill Paxton NOT appear?
Answer: Red Heat
Bill Paxton was the punker with the spiked blue hair at the beginning of "The Terminator", one of the Intercept Officers in "Commando", and Simon, the sleazy car salesman pretending to be a spy so can he hit on Helen (Jamie Lee Curtis), in "True Lies". He was not in "Red Heat".
