Before Sunset Trivia Quiz

Answer: Nine years

The two characters, Jesse and Celine, met on a train in 'Before Sunrise', and spent a day in Vienna together before Jesse had to catch his flight back to America. They haven't seen each other since Jesse left Celine at the train station in Vienna. 'Before Sunset' is the story of what happens when they finally do meet again.

Nine years is also the amount of time that passed in real life between the release of 'Before Sunrise' and its sequel, 'Before Sunset'.

Not long after the two meet up again, the question of whether they actually showed up in Vienna nine years earlier is asked. After Celine says she didn't turn up, Jesse says he didn't either. He eventually admits that he was there.

Celine says that the reason she didn't turn up was because her Grandmother had died, and that date was the day of the funeral. She had wanted to be there though.

Celine is now living in Paris, and Jesse has come there as part of a book tour to promote his first novel. Celine turns up at the bookshop where Jesse is answering questions about the novel, and they decide to go for coffee together.

It is Jesse who has written a novel about his first meeting with Celine. The title of Jesse's book is 'This Time'. Celine did write a song about Jesse though.

He is a war photographer so he is away most of the time. Celine confesses to Jesse that she actually likes it that way.

Jesse's son is the reason he is still with his wife. He says about his marriage, "I feel like I'm running a small nursery with someone I used to date.".

Celine and Jesse were living in New York at the same time (Celine went there to study), but neither of them knew the other was there. Jesse tells Celine that on the way to his wedding, he saw someone who looked just like Celine. Now he thinks it probably was her.
Jesse: "In the months leading up to my wedding, I was thinking about you all the time. I mean, even on my way there; I'm in the car, a buddy of mine is driving me downtown and I'm staring out the window, and I think I see you, not far from the church, right? Folding up an umbrella and walking into a deli on the corner of 13th and Broadway. And I thought I was going crazy, but now I think it probably was you."
Celine: "I lived on 11th and Broadway."
Jesse: "You see?"

Answer: A one night stand

She does first threaten to sing a song about her cat, but then ends up singing what she describes as 'a waltz'. "Let me sing you a waltz, out of nowhere, out of my thoughts. let me sing you a waltz, about this one night stand." Of course the song is about the encounter she had with Jesse all those years ago.

Answer: I know

Celine: "Baby, you are gonna miss that plane".
Jesse: "I know."

Just like at the end of 'Before Sunrise', we are left wondering what happens next. Does Jesse go back and try to work things out with his wife, or does he stay in Paris with Celine?
