Viv was very happy with Sam's expertise in landscaping, and also appreciated Papi, who was Sam's helper. On his breaks, Papi would visit with Chloe (whom he referred to as "Mi Corazon") while she lounged by the pool. One day when she was with her friends, Papi told Chloe that if she ever needed someone to lick inside her ears, or share her slumber in the sun, he would be honored to be that special someone. Chloe politely told him she didn't think that would ever happen.

With Viv going to Europe and the dog nanny not available, Viv's niece, Rachel, was asked to take care of Chloe. When her friend invited her to Mexico, Rachel took Chloe along, but had the nerve to try to feed Chloe dog food, from a can. A disgruntled Chloe sneaked out of the room while Rachel and her friends were out dancing, and was dog-napped from the beach.

When Rachel couldn't find Chloe, she began searching for her, even going to the police after finding out that Chloe had probably been dog-napped. She asked her friend Angela, who had returned to Beverly Hills, to email a photo of Chloe so that she could have posters made. Angela was at Viv's house getting the photo when Sam and Papi came in.

As soon as they heard what had happened to Chloe, Sam and Papi immediately traveled to Mexico. Rachel found them at the police station talking to Detective Ramirez about Chloe.

Answer: Pushed her into a puddle

After they eluded Vasquez and his men, Delgado and Chloe went to the Cathay Hotel, thinking Chloe would be recognized. Outside of the hotel, Delgado heard El Diablo, who had just been sent out by Vasquez to find Chloe. Delgado told Chloe to hold her breath and then pushed her into a puddle.

She came out complaining about losing another bootie, and Delgado explained why he had to change her scent. Chloe whined that she smelled like a wet dog. Delgado pointed out that she was a wet dog.

Answer: A rat conned her out of it.

Delgado told Chloe to wait while he talked to his cop friend Tomas about getting a human to read the tag on Chloe's collar. While Chloe was waiting, a rat named Manuel and his partner, Chico (an iguana), decided to pull a con on her. Chloe fell for it, and proudly told Delgado that her new friend Manuel had taken her collar to have the tag read by the captain of a ship. An upset Delgado told her she'd been had, and that there was nothing to identify her now.

Without Chloe's collar, Delgado's police connections couldn't help get Chloe home. Delgado then arranged for a coyote (who really was a coyote) to help get Chloe back across the border. He put her on the train to Tijuana and wished her luck, but Chloe reminded him that he had promised to stay with her. Delgado started walking away as the train began pulling out, but even telling himself not to turn around couldn't stop him from running after the train and jumping on.

After passing a tree she had already tinkled on, Chloe realized they were going in circles. When Delgado said he didn't smell anything, it dawned on Chloe that he had lost his sense of smell. He explained to her how, as a K-9 officer, he had been on a mission with his partner when he was blindsided by El Diablo.

His partner had been injured as a result and Delgado was let go because he could no longer follow a scent. He said they told him it was all in his head.

Answer: A bunch of Chihuahuas

Delgado was preparing to fight the mountain lions when they all noticed a sand cloud coming towards them. When the sand settled, there was a large group of Chihuahuas, whose leader said, "Say hello to my little friends". After the mountain lions ran off, the Chihuahua leader, Montezuma (call him Monte *wink*), led Delgado and Chloe to the Aztec ruins which they called home.

He explained the origins of the Chihuahua and encouraged Chloe to find her bark.

Chloe and Delgado made their presence known to the rangers, who alerted Detective Ramirez, Rachel and Sam. Sam, Rachel and Papi arrived at the station just after Diablo had snatched Chloe. Papi noticed a suspicious van with Chloe's scent, and went to investigate.

While Chloe and Papi were missing, Delgado could do nothing more than pace. Manuel, who had Chloe's collar, encouraged Delgado to sniff it to get Chloe's scent. Delgado said he couldn't do it, but after a little more encouragement he was able to track Chloe to where Vasquez was trying to catch her. With the help of the rangers and Detective Ramirez, Chloe, Papi and Delgado captured Vasquez and Rafferty. During the struggle with Diablo, it looked like Chloe had been fatally injured. But after a heartbroken Papi told her what she meant to him ("...Your love is the rain that falls upon my earth..."), it turned out that she was alright. Diablo got away, but Delgado made finding him his first mission after being reinstated as a K-9 officer.

At one point Rachel even pretended to be Chloe on the phone with Viv, just so Viv wouldn't find out that her little precious was missing. Rachel and Sam arrived back at Viv's mansion just moments before Viv's limousine pulled in the driveway. Rachel dressed Chloe quickly while Sam stayed outside to meet Viv.

While she was greeting Chloe, Viv noticed a smell on her which she described as urban and earthy. Viv said it was fabulous, allowing Rachel and Sam to breathe easy. Later, Papi and Chloe enjoyed some together time on a swing in the yard, while Rachel and Sam planned a date for Friday.
