Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Big Hero 6" takes place in a world that looks a little like our own, but clearly isn't. In which fictional city does the movie take place?

Answer: San Fransokyo

San Fransokyo was an amalgamation of San Francisco and Tokyo, two cities with strong tech industries. The setting incorporated elements of both eastern and western architecture and culture. A major landmark of San Fransokyo was a large red bridge similar to the Golden Gate bridge, but with the arches made to look like torii. There was also a tower that resembled the Tokyo Tower. There was even an abandoned facility out on an island in the bay, similar to Alcatraz.

Corona and Arendelle were from the movies "Tangled" and "Frozen", respectively. They were also animated movies made by Disney.
2. The hero of the film was helpfully named Hiro Hamada. In what was illegal activity was Hiro partaking when the movie opened?

Answer: Robot Fighting

Actually, the robot fights were not strictly illegal. Betting money on them was, though. In San Fransokyo there seemed to be a vibrant underground scene in which people could bring their own robots to fights, and bet on the matches.

Hiro played the part of a naive amateur, and deliberately lost the first round so his opponent would be willing to put even more money on a rematch. Hiro was hiding his potential, and it turned out he was a very competent robot designer and fighter. He won handily, which made the whole situation very tense.
3. Hiro got into trouble, but thankfully his brother, Tadashi, showed up to save him. In an attempt to steer Hiro in the right direction, Tadashi showed him his robotics lab. Tadashi showed Hero his personal project: the robot Baymax. What was Baymax's title?

Answer: Personal Healthcare Companion

Baymax was an inflatable robot healthcare companion. He was large and soft, and made to look and act as non-threatening as possible. When not in use, he would stay deflated in his charging station. He would only emerge when he heard someone say "ow", indicating they needed medical assistance. Baymax would not shut down until his patient had indicated that they were satisfied with their care.
4. Hiro was convinced by what he saw at the robotics lab, and decided to apply to the school. Before he could get in, he had to impress Professor Callaghan with his skills. What did Hiro end up building for the science fair to showcase his brilliance?

Answer: Mind-Controlled Microbots

Hiro struggled for a while to come up with an idea before settling on microbots. The microbots were even smaller versions of the components Hiro had used to make his gladiator robot. Each microbot was only a couple centimeters long, but en mass they could be used to construct any sturdy shape thought by the person wearing the neural-cranial transmitter.

The incorrect answers to this question were experiments being worked on by Tadashi's friends in the science lab.
5. Things were going well after Hiro's presentation at the science fair. He was even offered an opportunity with Alistair Krei, the CEO of Krei Tech. Unfortunately, everything went wrong very fast. A fire broke out in the lab, and Hiro's brother Tadashi and Professor Callaghan died. Everyone thought is was an accident until Hiro accidentally activated Baymax, and unwittingly sent him to track down the arsonist. Where did Baymax and Hiro end up?

Answer: An abandoned warehouse

The microbots naturally wanted to amalgamate, and would seek each other out. Hiro still had a single microbot in his hoodie pocket, and it started acting strangely, trying to move in a specific direction. Hiro just assumed the microbot was broken, and Baymax was annoying him. When Baymax offered to track where the microbot was trying to go, Hero said yes just to get the big robot to leave him alone. When Baymax actually left, Hiro panicked and followed. The two ended up at an abandoned warehouse, inside of which they found an assembly station creating new microbots.

Before they could snoop around too much, they were attacked by an ominous figure wearing a long coat and a kabuki mask, and had to run.
6. While exploring, Hiro saw that someone had stolen his science fair project, and was producing it in secret. But before he and Baymax could investigate too much, a person wearing a kabuki mask attacked the pair, and they fled the scene. Unfortunately, the whole ordeal took a toll on Baymax, and drained his batteries. How did Baymax start to act when he was low on power?

Answer: Intoxicated

Baymax spent a lot of time away from his charging station, and had to use a lot of his energy reserves during the exciting day. By the time Hiro was going home, Baymax was running dangerously low on power. Baymax started acting the way a human would when intoxicated, which made it very difficult for Hiro to sneak him back into the house without his Aunt Cass noticing.
7. Hiro and Baymax went to investigate, and Baymax invited all of Tadashi's friends from the lab. All six of them were attacked and chased by the scary person with the kabuki mask, and barely got away. They decided to hide out at Fred's house, which was actually a mansion. The crew built new outfits for themselves based on their research from the lab, to give them an edge during the next confrontation. What did the crew use as a practice dummy when testing their new abilities?

Answer: Heathcliff, the butler

Fred was the only person at the lab who was not a student. He just enjoyed the vibe and would hang out as the school mascot. Fred was a comic book and pop culture enthusiast, and had very rich parents. Nobody knew what Fred did outside of the school, and were surprised when he took them to a mansion. They were skeptical until the butler, Heathcliff, greeted him as Master Frederick.

At the mansion, the group came up with a plan to stop the person with the kabuki mask, and built themselves suits based on their experiments. They knew that the kabuki mask was housing the neural-cranial transmitter, and had to be removed to stop the microbots. They had Heathcliff wear a fake mask, and practiced removing it with their new abilities. Heathcliff was unmoved by all the chaos around him during the group's training.
8. With their new suits and abilities prepared, the group used Baymax to track down the person with the kabuki mask. They went to the ruins of a facility on an island. Krei Tech had been working on a secret project called Silent Sparrow, but it all went wrong and blew up. What was project Silent Sparrow?

Answer: A teleporter

Silent Sparrow was a teleporter. There were two gates at the facility. Alistair Krie demonstrated to a military official by throwing his hat through the gate, and having it come out the other one. The demonstration was a success, but Krei had a much better one planned. They were going to safely send a human through the gates.

Just before the live test, a power aberration was detected. Krei deemed it within normal operating tolerances, and decided to proceed with the test anyway. Unfortunately, this led to an explosion that destroyed the gates and much of the facility.
9. At the Silent Sparrow facility, the group had another showdown with the person in the kabuki mask. Using all their skills, and working as a team, they finally managed to remove the mask of the arsonist who destroyed the lab at the beginning of the movie. Who was behind the Kabuki Mask?

Answer: Callaghan, the professor

Robert Callaghan was the mentor of all the students at the robotics lab, and had been presumed dead after the explosion had destroyed his lab. The whole group was very shocked to see him alive. Hiro was especially angry because his brother, Tadashi, had run into the burning lab explicitly to save Callaghan.

Callaghan had taken Hiro's neuro-cranial transmitter to control the microbots and make a protective shield around himself. When everyone thought he was dead, he sneaked away and began creating more microbots.

Callaghan was on a mission of revenge. His daughter, Abigail, was a test pilot for Krei Tech. She had died (presumably) during the Silent Sparrow disaster. Callaghan wanted to destroy everything Alistair Krei had for killing his daughter.
10. Hiro wanted to kill the person in the kabuki mask, but was stopped by his friends and Baymax, who was not able to harm a human. The villain got away, leaving behind a furious Hiro. In the final showdown at Krei Tech, the group managed to work together again to defeat the villain. However, at the very end, Baymax had to sacrifice himself in order to save Hiro. Before he could, what did Hiro have to do?

Answer: Say that he was satisfied with his care

When Abigail went through the teleporter, she became stuck in a different dimension. Baymax detected her through the reactivated teleporter, in a state of hypersleep. Hiro and Baymax jumped into the gate to save Abigail.

They found her pod, and made their way back to the gate using Baymax's thrusters. At the last moment, Baymax was struck by debris, and could not finish the flight. Baymax could still use his intact rocket fist to send Hiro and Abigail to safety, but was not able to abandon Hiro until Hiro said he was satisfied with his care.

Hero was saddened by the loss of his brother's robot, but Baymax had managed to hold in his rocket fist the chip Tadashi had designed. Hero just had to construct a new body and put in the chip to get Baymax back.
