Argyle comes for William after the funeral of father and brother and takes on educating William. Stephen later saves Wallace's life while hunting. He kills an assassin and later tells William that he didn't like the man and thought he wasn't right in the head.

Wallace learnt many things from his uncle Argyle while growing up. Argyle explained to him about the Romans and how they protected their line with long spears.

Wallace sees Longshanks and chases after him. Longshanks orders a knight to fall back and kill Wallace. Wallace knocks the knight out of the saddle and runs over to finish him. Wallace is so shocked to see the Bruce on the ground that he can't move.

The Bruce's father made arrangements with Longshanks for Wallace's capture in return for Longshanks making the Bruce king. Craig helped because he was afraid Wallace would kill him like the other nobles that deserted him at Falkirk.

Although Wallace's name is not mentioned when she admits to being pregnant, the audience is left to assume it is William's child. The child was probably conceived during their last meeting when Longshanks sent the princess to meet Wallace so as to distract him while the king sent his armies north to Scotland.

The executioner wants Wallace to ask for mercy. Hamish, Steven and the Bruce are all there and each are whispering for mercy also. They had just witnessed Wallace being stretched on the rack and hung by the neck until almost dead. Wallace is given one last chance for a quick death before being disemboweled.
