Answer: Big Red, Whitney, Courtney, Darcy, Carver, Casey, Torrance

After the 'roll call', Big Red shoves Casey out of the way and introduces Torrance Shipman, the heroine of the film. Torrance then introduces herself...and finds out that her top has fallen off, much to the amusement of the crowd, the band and the football team. Fortunately, it's just a dream, although Torrance is elected captain of the squad in real life. Carver is also the cheerleader who breaks her leg during Torrance's first practice.

Answer: The Clash

Cliff Pantone is a new student from Los Angeles, who is in Torrance's class. Torrance sees his t-shirt and asks if it's his band. He replies, "The Clash? Uh...no. It's a British punk band circa 1977-1983, ish. Original line-up, anyway."

Answer: Pippin

Courtney interrupts with, "What's with the song?" The boy is confused as he thinks it's an audition for 'Pippin'. Other candidates include a boy doing the Robot, a male ballet dancer, a white female rapper, a girl singing a half-hearted version of the 'be aggressive' chant, a girl who bursts into tears, and Whitney's little sister. Torrance also discovers that Missy is Cliff's sister.

Answer: The school has no gymnastics team

When asked to do a cheer, instead of repeating the cheer Torrance gives her, she shouts, "I transferred from Los Angeles! Your school has no gymnastics team! This is a last resort!" The girls are not convinced by Missy's grungy appearance and try to put her off, but she follows the routine Whitney orders her to do and pulls it off.

The squad is impressed, bar Courtney and Whitney, but Torrance overrules them.

Answer: Blaque

Blaque members were Shamari Fears, Brandi Williams and Natina Reed (who died in 2012). They played Lava, LaFred and Jenelope respectively.

The Clovers confront Torrance and Missy after performing the cheer that the Toros have just performed, and it is here that Torrance finds out Big Red has been watching the Clovers and filming their routines for the Toros to copy. Isis, the captain of the Clovers says, "Every time we get some, here y'all come trying to steal it, put some blonde hair on it and call it something different."

Answer: Pump our gas

While the Toros' cheerleaders are multiple award winners, the football team is notoriously rubbish, and players from the opposition mock them. Their cheerleaders flash their knickers to the Toros cheerleaders, spelling out 'YOU SUCK!', and the Toros respond with the above chant. To add insult to injury, Isis and her fellow Clovers are at the game and make fun of the Toros in front of the crowd by copying their routine and adding an insulting line at the end of the cheer.

Answer: Another girl

Torrance has been trying for ages to get hold of Aaron, and when she finally does, he recommends a choreographer called Sparky Polastri. Little does Torrance know that Aaron is in bed with another girl. When she asks who was on the phone, Aaron claims it was his sister.

Sparky costs a lot of money to hire, so the Toros raise money for the fee by washing cars in their bikinis and swimming trunks. He insults every member of the team, and has a bizarre obsession with 'spirit fingers'.

Answer: Sparky has been teaching other teams the same routine as them.

As the Toros are being interviewed on TV, they notice another squad performing the same routine as them, to the same music. They still go on and perform their routine regardless. Unfortunately, not only are the Clovers watching, but Big Red is there as well.

A judge takes Torrance aside and informs her that Sparky has been teaching the same routine to several squads in the California region. The Toros are not disqualified as there is no precedent, but the judge warns her that the Toros have to perform a completely different routine in the finals. Big Red is furious with Torrance and tells her that appointing her as replacement captain was a mistake. Aaron tries to console Torrance, but then tells her that she should give up being captain and let Whitney and Courtney take over instead.

Answer: Tap

Even though the Toros only have three weeks until the national finals, Torrance insists on them coming up with a new routine and makes them practise twice as often and twice as hard. They also take inspiration from martial arts films and musicals. The mime, incidentally, is played by director Peyton Reed.

Torrance also confronts Aaron after finding out that he agreed with Courtney and Whitney behind her back that they should take over the squad. Finding his other girlfriend getting dressed in his room only cements her decision to dump him.

Answer: They write to a local talk show.

Isis tears up the cheque from Torrance's dad in front of her, and tells her that the only way she can make things right is to 'bring it' at the national finals in Florida. The Clovers write in to Pauletta's talk show, as she is from the same neighbourhood as them, and she features them on 'Wish Day', reading out Isis' letter and giving them the funds to get them to the nationals.

The Clovers make her an honorary member for life. They make it to the nationals, and despite the Toros' new routine getting resounding applause, the Clovers win.
