"The Wicker Man" was originally released in 1973. It involved a Christian police sergeant (Edward Woodward) travelling to a Scottish island in search of a missing girl. The title of the film refers to a pagan ritual carried out to ensure a bountiful harvest on the island. The Laird of the island, Lord Summerisle was portrayed by horror legend, Christopher Lee. Britt Ekland played local resident Willow.
A remake was made in 2006 starring Nicolas Cage and Ellen Burstyn but character names were different.
2. Matthew Hopkins; Richard Marshall; Oliver Cromwell

Answer: Witchfinder General

A 1968 Tigon/AIP release based on the real life character of Matthew Hopkins (Vincent Price) who operated as a corrupt witch finder in East Anglia, England. Set in 1665, Hopkins traveled from village to village charging local magistrates to find witches in the local community during the Puritan "Reign of Terror". Richard Marshall (Ian Ogilvie) was a young, Round-head officer who vowed to take revenge on Hopkins and his henchman after they brutally assaulted his fiancee.
Oliver Cromwell was not a major character in the film but was played by Patrick Wymark who was given prominent billing.
