Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I was attacked by a porcupine. Who voiced me?

Answer: Michael J. Fox

Fox, born on June 9th, 1961 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, voiced Chance. Chance was an American bulldog and Jamie's pet. In the beginning of the movie, Chance chased Sassy around at a wedding and unfortunately destroyed the wedding cake in the process.

When the Seavers went on vacation, they dropped off all three of their pets (Chance, Sassy, Shadow) at a family friend's home. Midway through the movie, Chance sniffed around a porcupine and the latter animal attacked Chance, impaling his quills into Chance's face. Later on in the movie, Chance and the other two animals were taken to the pound and it was there that the quills were removed.

At the end of the movie, Chance and Jamie embraced once Chance made it home. Fox voiced Chance again in "Homeward Bound 2: Lost in San Francisco".

He also had roles in the movies "The Frighteners" and "Mars Attacks!"
2. I nearly died when I plunged over a waterfall but luckily I survived. Who voiced me?

Answer: Sally Field

Field, a native of Pasadena, California, lent her voice to Sassy. Sassy was a Himalayan cat and Hope's pet. She often liked to say how "cats ruled and dogs drooled" but still got along with both Chance and Shadow. While on their journey through the woods, Sassy slipped off a log and went into the water. Shadow went to rescue but it was too late since she went over a waterfall. Downstream, a bird watcher noticed Sassy and brought her back to his place so he could tend to her.

When Sassy heard Chance barking, she ran towards them and they all had a tender reunion. Sassy attempted to tug the quills out of Chance's face but he told her to stop since it hurt too much. Sassy was thrilled at the end of the movie when she reunited with Hope. Field voiced Sassy in the sequel, "Homeward Bound 2: Lost in San Francisco". Field also has guest starred on the TV series "ER", "The Court" and "Murphy Brown".
3. I outran a mountain lion. Who voiced me?

Answer: Don Ameche

Ameche, born in 1908 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, voiced Shadow. Shadow was a Golden Retriever and Peter's dog. Shadow was relatively older than Sassy and Chance so therefore he tended to be the smartest of the bunch. Early on in the movie, Shadow and Chance went looking for fish in the water and Shadow advised him to not bark or else he would scare the fish. Midway through the movie, Shadow and Chance saw a mountain lion nearby so they ran from it.

The cougar lost sight of Chance but did keep an eye on Shadow and continued to chase him but Shadow outran him. Chance and Shadow managed to escape from the cougar unharmed. Near the end of the movie, Shadow fell into a hole and had a hard time getting out of it so he advised Sassy and Chance to leave him be. Sassy and Chance refused to leave Shadow's side. Shadow managed to climb out of the hole but it was not seen in the film.

At the end of the movie, Shadow reunited with Peter in a tearful embrace. Ameche starred in the films "Things Change", "Oscar" and "Corrina, Corrina".

In 1986, he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the movie "Cocoon". Other Oscar nominees for Best Supporting Actor that year were Klaus Maria Brandauer for "Out of Africa", William Hickey for "Prizzi's Honor", Robert Loggia for "Jagged Edge" and Eric Roberts for "Runaway Train".
4. I was a bride in the opening scenes. Who played me?

Laura was distressed midway through the movie once she learned her kids' three pets were all missing. Peter got angry with Bob about their predicament and Laura spoke with Peter privately about not venting his frustration at Bob since he was not to blame.

At the end of the movie, Laura went outside to get Bob and the kids to come inside for dinner but they told her to be quiet since they heard barking. Laura was relieved when all three of the pets made it home safe and sound. Greist had guest starring stints on the TV series "Judging Amy", "The X Files" and "Diagnosis Murder".
5. I made fliers with all three pets' pictures on them in hopes they would be found. Who played me?

Answer: Robert Hays

Hays, born on July 24th, 1947 in Bethesda, Maryland, was cast as Bob Seaver. Bob was saddened once he heard news of Chance, Shadow and Sassy having disappeared so he made fliers with the headline "Missing" on them so as to help in the effort to locate the three pets.

He made sure there were recent pictures on the fliers and then asked a co-worker to print off several copies of them so he could distribute them. When Bob received word that the three pets had been found, he got so excited that it frightened a couple of his co-workers.

At the end of the movie, Bob and the kids played basketball outside their home and were pleased when the three pets returned home shortly after they completed their game. Hays reprised his role of Bob Seaver in "Homeward Bound 2: Lost in San Francisco".

He has also had parts in the movies "Airplane!" and "Raw Justice".
6. I dropped a pumpkin. Who played me?

Answer: Kevin Chevalia

Jamie dropped a pumpkin he was holding at the time to go be with his family while they left to go reclaim their pets.

At the end of the movie, Jamie started calling for Chance once he heard barking and was relieved once Chance appeared. Chevalia reprised his role of Jamie Seaver in "Homeward Bound 2: Lost in San Francisco". Chevalia's first acting credit was in the 1992 movie "Folks!"
7. I blamed Bob for the pets going missing but then made up with him once I realized it was not his fault. Who played me?

Answer: Benji Thall

Thall, a native of New York, portrayed Peter Burnford. Peter was the oldest of the three kids (Peter, Hope, Jamie) and was devoted to his dog, Shadow. Peter spoke of how gross it was at the wedding when Chance threw up after eating some of the wedding cake. Midway through the movie, Peter got into a hissy fit with Bob since he felt Bob was to blame for the three pets being missing since it was him who recommended they go on vacation. Peter eventually realized Bob was not to blame and made amends with him, which Bob accepted.

At the end of the movie, Peter waited for Shadow to come back to him after Chance and Sassy made it back safe but Shadow did not initially come. Peter commented on Shadow likely dying on the way back since he was too old but was thrilled when Shadow arrived back home. Thall reprised his role of Peter Burnford in "Homeward Bound 2: Lost in San Francisco".

He has also starred in the movies "Repossessed" and "The Puppet Masters".

Answer: Mark L. Taylor

Officer Kirkwood worked for a local animal pound in Northern California and looked out for Chance, Shadow and Sassy when they were brought there. Officer Kirkwood and the other employees became frustrated once the three pets would not cooperate and made a run for it.

When the three got outside, they slipped under a fence and escaped back into the wilderness. When the Seavers came to get their pets, Officer Kirkwood informed Bob their pets had escaped. However, Hope was relieved once she heard that Sassy and the other pets had been found so she joined her family to get Jamie at school to tell him the news. En route to the pound, Hope told Bob that she was glad he issued the fliers since her belief was, had he not, the three pets would not have been found.

At the end of the movie, Hope and the rest of the family heard a dog barking and Hope remarked how she knew it was Chance by the sound of the bark. Lauren reprised her role of Hope Burnford in "Homeward Bound 2: Lost in San Francisco".

She was also in the films "Forever Young" and "American Pie".
10. I made the cake at Bob and Laura's wedding. Who played me?

Answer: Mary Marsh
