"Reds" tells about the story of John Reed and his involvement in bringing the ideals of the Communist revolution in Russia to America. Nicholson got nominated for Best Supporting Actor for "Reds", not Best Actor. That nomination went to Warren Beatty for the same film. Nicholson is known for "The Shining", "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", and "Batman".

"Cape fear" (1991), a film about a man released from prison who goes on to stalk the family of the lawyer who defended him, starred Robert De Niro, Jessica Lange and Nick Nolte. In "Goodfellas", Pesci and De Niro played James Conway and Tommy DeVito respectively, for which Pesci won an Academy Award.

In "Raging Bull", Pesci played De Niro's brother, Joey LaMotta, which garnered him an Oscar nomination. In "Casino", Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci played mobsters who run into problems while trying to keep their gambling empire together.

"Lawrence of Arabia" is about T.E. Lawrence's inner conflicts with loyalty between the British military and the Arabs. Peter O'Toole (who played T.E. Lawrence) and Omar Sharif (who played Sherif Ali) were the only actors to be nominated for Academy Awards for "Lawrence of Arabia". Alec Guinness played Prince Feisal, but was not nominated for an Oscar. Alec Guinness had a total of five Oscar nominations, but "Lawrence of Arabia" is not one of them. Alec Guinness is best known for his Oscar nominated performance in "Star Wars" for playing Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Lee Strasberg and Al Pacino starred in "The Godfather Part 2". Pacino was nominated for Best Actor and Strasberg was nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Pacino of course played Michael Corleone and Strasberg played Hyman Roth, a long time associate of the Corleone family. Al Pacino, along with many other big actors, was a student of Lee Strasberg and his Acting Studio.

Bing Crosby, a famous crooner and actor, won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in "Going My Way". He is probably best known for singing the song "White Christmas" and starring in the film of the same name. He would act in the sequel of the film, "The Bells of St. Mary's". Crosby also starred alongside the Rat Pack in "Robin and the Seven Hoods".

Peter Sellers was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor twice for "Being There" and "Dr. Strangelove", but they were for leading actor. The original "Scarface" was released in 1932, the original "Gaslight" was released in 1940, and the original "The Nutty Professor" was made in 1963. "Lilies of the Field" was an adaptation of the novel of the same name. It starred Sidney Poitier in his Best Actor winning performance as a construction worker who crosses paths with nuns who need help building a church for them.

It was not a remake, though a television sequel was made in 1979 called "Christmas Lilies of the Field".

"Two of a Kind" is a romantic comedy that saw Travolta and Olivia Newton-John in their second pairing since "Grease". The film is about two criminally-minded people who try and save earth from God's destruction. There was no dancing involved.
