Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In jousting, how many points are awarded to a hit on the helmet?

Answer: 2

Count Adhemar explains the rules to Jocelyn when he first tries to court her. Jocelyn couldn't have cared less about him though, and I can't blame her!
2. Sir Ector was a character in many "King Arthur and the Round Table" myths. What was his role?

Answer: He raised Arthur for Merlin along with his own son Sir Kay

Once Sir Kay was old enough, Ector had Arthur work as a squire for him. It's believed that Arthur had lost Kay's sword and pulled the "sword in the stone" out in order to give it to Kay to compete.
3. Geoff from the movie, was based on the real author Geoffrey Chaucer. What was the name of his famous group of poems?

Answer: Canterbury Tales

For anyone who knows their "Tales" you'll note the title of the story shares itself with one of the tales the real Chaucer wrote. And the avid fan of this movie will note Simon the Summoner and Peter the Pardoner may have been based on "The Summoner's Tale" and "The Pardoner's Tale".
4. After those toughies, here's something a bit easier: Who sings "We are the Champions" at the credits?

Answer: Robbie Williams and Queen

And can I say with some amazing accuracy to the original! I usually don't like remakes.
5. Who choreographed the "Golden Years" dance at the Banquet?

Answer: Heath Ledger

Heath was a member of his high school dance team and choreographed many of their championship-winning routines.
6. Who was Heath Ledger named after?

Answer: The character Heathcliff from "Wuthering Heights"

His sister Kathy was named after Heathcliff's soul mate.
7. How did William "desecrate the house of God"?

Answer: He was distracted by Jocelyn and rode his horse into the church

Back in medieval England, if someone was in a church and claimed "sanctuary" as long as they were in the church they could not be taken to prison or convicted of a crime.
8. What token did Wat give William from Jocelyn?

Answer: A kiss

Probably the one time in William's life he was excited to be kissed by another guy!
9. Why did Roland insist William ask Kate nicely to teach the boys how to dance?

Answer: He had gone to the trouble of making a tunic for the Banquet

He used fabric from William's tent to make the tunic.
10. Complete the Line: Jocelyn: "He shows mercy." Adhemar: "Then he shows his _________."?

Answer: weakness

I sooo wanted Adhemar to get creamed at the end of that movie!
11. At the end of the credits William's entourage sits around doing what?

Answer: Farting

I didn't even see that clip 'til I happened to be on a trip with friends and we let it play all the way through! The whole bus was laughing.
12. Instead of winning the tournament, what does Jocelyn wish William would win?

Answer: Her heart

And he does! Back in the day, would a princess really agree to live with the pigs for love? I kind of doubt it!
13. Why did Adhemar forfeit his match with Sir Thomas Colville?

Answer: Colville was really Prince Edward

Later in the movie Edward rewards William's courage to face him by making him a knight.
14. According to Geoff, why did William take a vow of silence?

Answer: To better understand the sound of a whisper

How full of it was Geoff? I mean, really!
15. In Geoff's final introduction of William, in order to distract attention from Wat and Roland tying the lance to William's hand, what phrase does he use to describe William?

Answer: "One of your own"

That also is the title of an instrumental piece on the soundtrack written by Carter Burwell, whose work can be found on many other movie soundtracks.
