The line always cracks me up. His face when he does it is so funny. It's like it just occured to him that 12-1=11. He says this to Mark in Midland after Tom found Mark on the train, after Mark ran away. The family all traveled to Midland and met up with the two of them when they got off the train.

When Kate was narrating in the beginning of the movie, after she introduced the first 10 kids, she said, "in `98, we had our second set of twins: Nigel and Kyle. 12 kids."
