1. After Doug Jacobson is fired, Tim Conrad (Paul Rudd) intends to keep his job, and his office. He comes up with an idea to make novelty lamps out of unused bombs made by a Swiss company. His boss, Lance Fender, offers him the job, although first he wants to get to know Tim a bit better. Which actor portrays Mr. Fender? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. As the explanation continues, the "dinner for winners" actually consists of taking dumb people and making fun of them, which Tim thinks is "messed up". At the end of the night, the boss picks one and gives him a trophy. What type of entertainer is Tim asked NOT to bring, as it is "cliché"? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. Tim goes to his girlfriend with the good news, but before he tells her, he tries to propose. The thing is he had already proposed to Julie multiple times, the most recent one being two days ago. After Julie ends a successful art exhibition, she tells Tim not to go to that dinner. The next day, Tim tells his assistant to lie to his boss, so he doesn't have to go to the dinner. While driving, he runs over Barry Speck (Steve Carell). Although the car hit him pretty hard, Speck claims he's OK, and photographs the car. He says he had been hit before by a Datsun, not by what brand of cars, which happens to be Tim's car? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. The Swiss investor, Martin Mueller, seems to get along much better with Tim than with the higher level employees, infuriating them. However, Fender seems OK with the idea of Tim going with Mueller and his wife for lunch, since his wife is also an art collector. They get into a fight, though, after Julie finds out Tim lied to him and he is going to that dinner. Barry then unexpectedly shows up in Tim's apartment just as Julie leaves. While he's there, Barry starts chatting with a girl named Darla, and gives her Tim's address. Tim is very angry, as Darla is a woman who has been stalking him for a long time, because he slept with her once. When did this happen? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. Barry thinks Julie might be cheating on Tim with Kieran, an artist with whom she works, so he calls Kieran in an attempt to gain his confidence, impersonating an English film producer called Nigel, who wants to make a documentary on his life. While on the phone, they hear a woman laughing, and think it could be Julie, so they decide to go where Kieran is. Trying to get their attention, Barry throws an object to Kieran's room. Besides not getting any attention, which item does Barry lose? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. As Julie left her cellphone behind, Tim is able to listen to a voicemail Kieran sent, which said he intended to take her to his secret ranch, which is in an unknown location. Barry remembers he works in a place where he can learn the address of this ranch. For which government institution does Barry work? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. Tim is very mad at Barry for what happened, and just as they were leaving the building, Barry sees his ex-wife, Martha, getting in the car with Therman, who calls Martha "pudding". Barry sleeps in Tim's house, and Tim realizes how lonely Barry might feel. His pity for him disappears the next day. Tim was supposed to have Julie eat brunch with the Swiss couple, the Muellers. Obviously, Julie is not there, so Barry comes up with a plan: have Darla impersonate Julie. Just when they were about to close the business deal, Tim is forced to do what in the restaurant? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Tim and Barry arrive to the ranch, and see Kieran taking pictures of Julie. Tim tries to explain the misunderstanding, and while he does, he says the only friends Barry has are dead mice, because they can't run away from him. Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Fender?

Answer: Bruce Greenwood

Tim's idea could result in Martin Mueller, a wealthy Swiss businessman, becoming the firm's client, which impresses his boss. Before giving him the office, though, he wants to know him better, so he invites him to dinner on Saturday. The other employees claim Fender holds this meeting once a month, and that while some people collect fine wines, Fender collects people.

He makes everyone recruit a talented person and calls it the "dinner for winners".
2. As the explanation continues, the "dinner for winners" actually consists of taking dumb people and making fun of them, which Tim thinks is "messed up". At the end of the night, the boss picks one and gives him a trophy. What type of entertainer is Tim asked NOT to bring, as it is "cliché"?

Answer: Mime

His co-workers tell Tim to be subtle when picking the guest he would bring to dinner with him, as Fender is an expert. Also, they warn him against taking mimes, as Jacobson took a mime and was later fired.

Answer: Porsche

Speck explains he was trying to save a mouse from being run over, which is odd since the mouse was already dead. He then takes a picture with the mouse! After Barry tries to offer Tim money to avoid lawyers (when it should be the other way around), Barry shows the artwork he does with dead mice.

As they speak, Tim realizes this man could be the person he'd take to the "dinner for winners".

Answer: New Year's

Tim says he slept with Darla one time, before knowing Julie, because he was very drunk. Barry tries to fix this situation by telling Darla Tim is cheating on her, so she goes away. However, he confuses Darla with Julie, provoking an even bigger problem.

Answer: Car keys

Well, Tim cannot believe this! His car keys are now in the room of the potential guy Julie is with. Barry sneaks into the room to retrieve the keys, and calls Tim to tell him about how amazing the place is (although Tim is a few meters away from him). Barry then sees a picture of Kieran shaking hands with Nelson Mandela, but he confuses him and thinks he's shaking hands with Morgan Freeman! While waiting outside the apartment, Tim accidentally breaks a flower pot, attracting Kieran's attention. After Tim and Barry enter Kieran's room, Kieran learns that Julie left Tim, and admits he is attracted to her.
6. As Julie left her cellphone behind, Tim is able to listen to a voicemail Kieran sent, which said he intended to take her to his secret ranch, which is in an unknown location. Barry remembers he works in a place where he can learn the address of this ranch. For which government institution does Barry work?

Answer: Internal Revenue Service

Barry is an IRS employee, so he suggests they go to the offices, talk with his boss, and get the ranch's address, since it must be recorded in the IRS. Upon their arrival, Barry explains to his boss, Therman Murch, who Tim is and what he wants. Therman agrees to release that information in exchange for Barry saying "you can eat my pudding". Barry refuses, and Tim offers him $1000 for him to say it.

Therman takes it as a man that has something to hide. Tim is now being audited.

Answer: Propose to Darla

The Muellers insist that Tim should propose to Julie, and as he does, the real Julie arrives at the restaurant, as his assistant called her. She storms out, saying she will go to Kieran's ranch for work. In the meantime, Darla, angry by the humiliation she suffered, destroys Tim's car and keeps the engagement ring.

After realizing what he did, Barry calls Therman and tells him "he can have his pudding", therefore getting Kieran's address.
8. Tim and Barry arrive to the ranch, and see Kieran taking pictures of Julie. Tim tries to explain the misunderstanding, and while he does, he says the only friends Barry has are dead mice, because they can't run away from him. Barry hears him and says mice also can't lie, and walks away. Julie also says she will pack her stuff at 8:00 from Tim's home. Where is Tim's home located, as revealed in this scene?

Answer: San Francisco

After Julie tells him she will be in San Francisco to pick up her things, Barry says he never knew what Martha thought of him until he heard her speak behind his back. Tim tries apologizing, but Barry isn't interested.
9. Tim has to go to "dinner for winners" alone, after learning supposedly there is a similar custom in Switzerland. As he arrives, he notices Barry is already there. There were many "special" guests there, but which of these was NOT there?

Answer: A man without a shirt on

The guests of honor include a lady who communicates with the lobster she's about to eat, a blind swordsman who competed in the Olympics, a man with a puppet as his wife, and the 2002 Beard Champion. These are all very impressive "talents", but Barry amazes everyone with his dead mice art.

The dinner turns into chaos after Therman shows up with mind control, but then Barry claims to have brain control, defeating Therman. The trophy for the idiot of the night goes to Barry, who then tells the other guests what the real purpose of the dinner was.

The blind swordsman starts fighting, cutting Mueller's finger, and provoking a fire. Tim loses his job, saying he is on the losers' side, not with his boss.
10. Do Tim and Julie stay together at the end?

Answer: Yes

Tim and Barry arrive to the apartment, and find a note saying "have a nice life", from Julie to Tim. As he starts talking about how important she is to him, Barry sees her in the back of the room, and keeps Tim talking. Barry once said the truth comes when someone speaks behind your back. Julie and Tim get back together, Barry and Kieran become friends, and join their art styles.

Tim ends up helping Martin Mueller make an ammunition museum, and a sculpture created by Barry and Kieran, showing Mueller's lost finger, is shown at the inauguration. Therman is put in an asylum, and Julie finally says yes and marries Tim.
