They were a family act that appeared in vaudeville, Broadway and films from 1905-1949. Groucho became well known in the early days of television because of his wit, unusual walk, large cigar, horn-rimmed glasses, large nose and moustache. The American comedy team, the Ritz Brothers (Al, Jimmy and Harry) appeared in films and made live performances from 1925 to the 1960s.

The Everly Brothers (Don and Phil) had many hit records in the 1950s and 1960s. "The Blues Brothers" was a 1980 musical crime comedy movie starring Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi.

Lionel Barrymore (1878-1954) was an American actor of the stage, screen and radio. He is probably best known for his role of Mr. Potter in the six time nominated Academy Award film "It's a Wonderful Life" (1946). In "A Free Soul" he plays the role of the alcoholic defense attorney Stephen Ashe and for this role he won the Academy Award for Best Actor. Surprisingly, it was in this movie that Clark Gable and Leslie Howard both made their film debuts. Lionel's film career spanned 1893-1954.
Ethel Barrymore (1879-1959) was the sister of Lionel and won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Ma Mott in "None but the Lonely Heart" (1944) opposite Cary Grant.
John Barrymore (1882-1942), the brother of Lionel, was firstly a stage actor then ventured into silent then talking movies of the 1920s and 1930s.
John Drew Barrymore (1932-2004) was the son of John Barrymore and appeared in numerous films and TV episodes. He is the father of Drew Barrymore (b. 1976) an American actress, author, director, producer and model.

Vanessa Redgrave won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Julia in the movie. The movie takes place in central Europe during the 1930s and Julia assists in the anti-Nazi cause. Jane Fonda as Lillian received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress and Jason Robards as Dashiell won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Vanessa has also received numerous other Academy Award nominations. Lynn Redgrave (1943-2010) has the distinction of being nominated in all of the "Big 4" entertainment awards in America (Grammy, Oscar, Emmy and Tony). Sir Michael Redgrave (1908-1985) was an English film and stage actor, author, manager and director. Michael was the father of Vanessa and Lynn. Jemma Redgrave is an English actress and the daughter of Corin Redgrave, the brother of Vanessa and Lynn.

Douglas Fairbanks (1883-1939) was an American actor, director, producer and screenwriter and hosted the first Oscars ceremony in 1929. His final screen appearance was in 1934. His son Douglas Fairbanks Jr. (1909-2000) was also an actor. However, he was more active in the movies prior to WWII and during the '50s and '60s appeared on stage and on television.
Errol Flynn (1909-1959) was an Australian actor who achieved fame in Hollywood playing swashbuckling roles in "The Adventures of Robin Hood" and "Captain Blood" during the 1930s. His son Sean Flynn (1941-71) was also an actor but was best known for his coverage of the Vietnam War as a freelance journalist. He was captured by Communist guerrillas in 1971 and was never heard of again. He was declared legally dead in 1984.
Lon Chaney (1883-1930) was an American stage and film actor who starred in quite a few silent horror movies. His son Lon Chaney Jr. (1906-1973) was also an actor with a career spanning from (1931-1971).
The Bridges consist of Lloyd and his sons Beau and Jeff. None of the family were acting during the silent movie period.

The movie starred Kirk Douglas, his son Michael Douglas, and Michael's son Cameron Douglas. Diana Dill, Kirk's first wife and mother of Michael played the role of Kirk's character's wife.

Olivia de Havilland (b.1916) and Joan Fontaine (1917-2013) were both born in Tokyo to British parents and the girls with their mother moved to California in 1919. Olivia won two Academy Awards for Best Actress, "To Each His Own" (1946) and "The Heiress" (1949). Joan won her Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in "Suspicion" (1941) making her the only actor to win an Academy Award in a movie directed by Alfred Hitchcock. They were the first sisters to win Academy awards for Best Actress.
Olivia played Melanie Hamilton Wilkes, the sister-in-law to Scarlet O'Hara in "Gone with the Wind" (1939) and had eight leading lady roles opposite Errol Flynn. Joan was active on stage, radio and television and made her last on-screen appearance in 1994.
Constance Bennett (1905-1965) starred in silent movies and early talking movies. Her younger sister Joan (1910-1990) was more famous during the 1930s and 1940s. Both Eva and Zsa Zsa together with their older sister Magda were all actresses and socialites.

John Huston directed "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" (1948) for which his father Walter Huston won the Academy award for Best Supporting Actor. He also directed his daughter Anjelica Huston in "Prizzi's Honor" (1985) for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Martin and Charlie Sheen had several scenes together in "Wall Street" (1987) as Carl and Bud Fox, father and son.
