Answer: Blue Moon

* The Answer - The melody that became "Blue Moon" was originally intended for Jean Harlow to sing in "Hollywood Party". At this stage it was called "Prayer". Neither the song, nor Harlow appeared in the movie.
The "Prayer/Blue Moon" tune was given new lyrics and became the title song of the 1934 M.G.M film "Manhattan Melodrama". It never made it to the screen.
It was retitled "The Bad In Every Man" and finally sung by Shirley Ross in the film.
Finally, the Head of M.G.M.'s publishing company, said he would promote the tune if Hart would write more commercial lyrics. The result was "Blue Moon" as we know it today.
