Richard and Sondra Walker arrived in Paris in the early hours of the morning. On the way to the hotel, the taxi had a flat tire. The driver had to page another cab because his spare tire was slashed.

As soon as they arrived at the hotel, Sondra couldn't get her suitcase unlocked. Richard looked at it closer and discovered that it wasn't her suitcase at all. Sondra's first thought was that Richard planned for her suitcase to be missing so she could go shopping in Paris. Richard phoned the TWA to report the missing suitcase.

When he was in the shower, someone phoned their room, claiming Sondra's bag was in the lobby. She went downstairs and didn't come back.

Answer: Sondra's bracelet

Richard went out on the street looking for Sondra, after she had been gone for several hours. He stopped at a restaurant and asked if anyone had seen her. A man at the bar led him outside, explaining that he had seen two men force a woman into a car. She had been wearing a red dress, just like Sondra had been when she left. Richard also found Sondra's bracelet in the lot behind the restaurant.

Richard located the morning desk clerk from the hotel at a gym nearby. He said he had seen Sondra come down to the lobby, where she started talking to two men of Arabic descent. One of the men put his arm around her shoulder, then the three of them walked out of the hotel. Richard then went to the American Embassy in Paris, but the agents there laughed at him.

They said Sondra could have just been having a good time with the two men, and they refused to believe she was kidnapped.

Answer: On a book of matches

Before the TWA worker came to pick up the suitcase, Richard pried it open to see what was inside. It was obviously the suitcase of a young woman. He dumped out a makeup bag and found a book of matches from a club called the Blue Parrot. Written inside was the phone number of someone named Dede Martin. Thinking Dede might know something about Sondra's disappearance, Richard dialed the number and left a message on the answering machine.

Answer: Cocaine

Richard went to the Blue Parrot club and started asking if anyone had seen Dede. He met a black man with a Jamaican accent who claimed he did know Dede, but Dede hadn't been to the club in two nights. Then the man said, "I know what you need: the white lady. Now it's that so?" Richard thought he was talking about Sondra.

But when the man led Richard into the men's room, he took out a packet of cocaine and shoved an amount of it towards Richard's nose. The doctor sniffed it, and the drug dealer gave him the packet, as well as Dede's address.

Answer: Dede was dead.

Richard went to the address the man at the club had given him, to a dark, eerie apartment building. Dede's door was unlocked, so he walked right in. There he found Dede slumped down against the wall, murdered. He had been stabbed to death. Before he left, Richard took the tape from Dede's answering machine.

At the hotel, he discovered that someone had trashed his room looking for the suitcase. He had the desk clerk translate Dede's phone messages, and he learned that a woman named Michelle was coming over to Dede's apartment after the Blue Parrot closed.

It was nearly 4:30 A.M., and Richard went back to the apartment to wait for Michelle.

Richard waited on the stairs outside Dede's apartment. Michelle went in and found his body, and when she saw Richard, she thought he had killed Dede. When he finally got her calmed down, he told her about the switched suitcases. Michelle wanted to go the airport and get her suitcase, so they went to her apartment to find her plane ticket. Richard finally told Michelle that his wife had been kidnapped because of the suitcase and asked her what was in it. Michelle was a drug runner by profession, and Dede was her boss.

There was a big poster of '80s soul singer Grace Jones in the apartment, with her name on it. She performed the song "I've Seen That Face Before", which was heard three different times in the movie.

At the airport, they collected the suitcase. Michelle confessed that she didn't know what was in it, but it wasn't drugs this time. On the way out, Richard met a friend of his, another doctor who was attending the convention. At one point, Richard reached into his pocket, and the pack of cocaine fell out. Michelle grabbed it, took the suitcase and ran out. Richard caught her just before she drove out of the parking lot and got back in her car.

Answer: He walked across the roof and dropped into a skylight.

Michelle drove Richard back to his hotel, and he gave her the estimated amount of money for whatever was in the suitcase. That way he would have it in case Sondra's kidnappers wanted to meet him. Richard promised he would go over to her apartment with the suitcase later.

When he got to her apartment, he didn't open the door because he heard an argument going on inside. The night before, he had seen Michelle climb out a window in the hallway, then walk across the roof and drop into her skylight. Richard did just that, but he dropped all the contents of the suitcase off the roof.

As soon as Richard climbed through the skylight, he opened the bathroom door and saw two men interrogating Michelle about the suitcase. He hid in her bed, then called for her. The men followed her into the bedroom, and Richard pretended to be her boyfriend.

As soon as he stood up, the younger man kicked him and knocked him out. When he woke up, he was onboard a yacht with Michelle and some of her friends.

Richard learned from a phone call that the kidnappers would switch his wife for Michelle's glass Statue of Liberty. They met the kidnappers in a parking garage, but Michelle refused to give over the model. It had cracked open when it fell off the roof, and a small, wired device had fallen out.

At a cafe nearby, Michelle and Richard were joined by the two men from the U.S. Embassy. They explained that the device was used for the separation of missles and triggering the detonation of nuclear bombs.

During the fight at the parking garage, the two men from Michelle's apartment showed up and shot and killed a driver who was just passing by. Richard and Michelle jumped into the car and drove it down the street. Michelle took the victim's wallet, and inside were cards for a club called A Touch of Class.

They went to the club, where Richard saw some more of his doctor friends. The friends gave him some strange looks when they saw him dancing with Michelle, and his wife was nowhere in sight. Richard also met Sondra's kidnapper there, and he confirmed that he still had what the terrorist wanted.

The next morning, Richard arranged to meet the terrorists and be reunited with his wife. Sondra walked towards Richard at the same time Michelle headed towards the Arab men. Sondra was reunited with her husband, but Michelle refused to hand over the detonating device unless they gave her 10,000 Francs.

The kidnappers tackled her, then the men from Michelle's apartment showed up. They wanted the device too. Both of the Arab men were shot and killed by the attackers on the bridge. Even though he had been shot, the second kidnapper managed to pick up a gun, and he shot Michelle as she was walking away. Richard tried to help her, but she died within a few minutes.

Answer: He threw it in the river.

After Michelle died, the men from the bridge came running down to the ground. Richard found the device, which Michelle had slipped into his pocket before she died. He let the attackers see it, then he threw it into the river. The men didn't try to fight him. The Walkers probably never forgot this vacation.
