Pasolini was murdered in 1975, aged 53. Initially, Giuseppe Pelosi confessed to the crime but 29 years later retracted his statement. It has been speculated that he was killed by extortionists. His last film was the highly controversial 'Salò, Or the 120 Days of Sodom'.
