Answer: "Halloween" (1978)

This meant that while other films in the canon, like the immediate sequel "Halloween II" may have elaborated on the Michael Myers storyline (including making Laurie Strode into Michael's sister), the 2018 sequel really only followed until the end of the original "Halloween", which ended with Myers getting away and disappearing into the night (leaving Laurie and Dr. Loomis on a bit of a cliffhanger).

This movie supposes that he was caught. Jamie Lee Curtis did also appear in "Halloween II", "Halloween H20: 20 Years Later", and "Halloween: Resurrection".

In "Resurrection", she was actually killed off. This retconned all of that, thankfully.

Answer: A podcast

Aaron and Dana headed to Smith's Grove Sanitarium, somewhere in Illinois, to interview Michael for their true crime podcast, but found that after 40 years he was still unwilling to talk, not even to the staff of the facility. It ended up being somewhat of a non-starter.

The duo ended up visiting Laurie Strode next and she, at her isolated but fortified house in the woods outside of Haddonfield, refused to answer most of their questions (though she took a $3,000 appearance fee from them). Their further investigations took them to the grave of Judith Myers and onward, all with Michael's mask in tow.

Their hope? To get into the mind of the killer and find some sort of insight into why he did what he did. They wouldn't get that answer.

Answer: A bus crash

During a transfer to another facility, Michael was able to get free (along with a number of other asylum inmates) because of a bus crash that allowed him to murder his way into the night. While police were immediately brought out to the scene, it wasn't quick enough for him to avoid killing a couple of passers-by and the driver of the bus (and its guards). Also in the crash was Michael's psychiatrist, Dr. Sartain (who Laurie later referred to as 'The New Loomis'), who insisted on joining because Michael was still in his care until handed off to the new sanatorium.

He ended up getting shot shortly after the crash, falling into a short coma that night and being unable to give any answers.

Answer: In the back of a car

The day after Michael's escape, he ended up coming across a service station where, after killing the mechanic and cashier inside (and donning his characteristic coveralls), he ended up finding Dana in the restroom. What followed was a gruesome fight between Michael, Dana, and Aaron, during which only Michael escaped unscathed.

He would subsequently retrieve his mask, originally brought to the interview at the sanatorium, having been on loan from the state's attorney general, from the trunk of their car, hidden there amongst the case files from the original killings.

Answer: True

While the town of Haddonfield seemed to recover from the nightmare inflicted upon it 40 years earlier, Michael's escape occurred on October 30th and he returned to his old stomping ground the following night, commencing a killing spree through several residences while local kids went about their trick-or-treating. Laurie's granddaughter, meanwhile, was at a local Halloween dance with her boyfriend.

After a fight with her drunk boyfriend, her phone ended up getting ruined. The police, meanwhile, led by Sheriff Hawkins, started coming across the bodies and realized that they had a serial murderer back on their hands.

Answer: Babysitting

While Laurie's granddaughter, Allyson, was at a dance with her boyfriend, she was also expected to meet up with her friend, Vicky, who happened to be babysitting somewhere in town. By this point, Michael had already murdered a handful of Haddonfield residents en route to that house. Vicky wasn't able to escape Michael's wrath, and neither was her boyfriend, Dave, who was pinned to a wall with a knife. Both Sheriff Hawkins and Laurie arrived on the scene after hearing it on the police radio and Laurie was able to get a shot off at her foe, finally seeing him in the flesh after 40 years, but he escaped.

Answer: Sheriff Hawkins

After the cops discovered that Michael was loose in Haddonfield, Laurie took Karen and her husband, Ray, back to her house to hide away. Allyson, still returning from the dance and lacking a cell phone, was nowhere to be found until her friend, Oscar, was killed and she sought out help. Eventually, the police found her and Sheriff Hawkins and Dr. Sartain offered her a ride to her grandmother's, but on the way they found Michael wandering the streets. Seizing the opportunity, Hawkins struck Michael with his car and went out to investigate, but Sartain, seeking the opportunity to witness Michael out in the real world, killed Hawkins, shoved an unconscious Michael into the back seat with Allyson, and headed onward to Laurie's.

Answer: Under the kitchen cupboards

Although much of Laurie's house seemed to be unfurnished, it was partly because the house was meant to serve as a shelter and, inevitably, a battleground for the eventual face-off against Myers. Karen and Laurie headed to this house and hid away in the kitchen shelter, accessed with a garage door opener and hidden under the kitchen island, after Myers arrived and killed Karen's husband, Ray, with a pair of wind chimes.

While Karen stayed below, Laurie opted to go upstairs to finish the job. At the same time, Allyson, having escaped from the cop car after Michael killed both Dr. Sartain and the cops left to defend the house, raced through the woods to end up at her grandmother's place.

Answer: She was thrown over a balcony

With Karen in the basement, Laurie systematically made her way through her house, checking rooms and then sealing them off with gates set to descend when she hit their switches outside. When she finally reached an upstairs storage room (full of mannequins), she found that Michael had already hidden Ray's body in the closet and prepared for Laurie's arrival.

The two came to blows but the fight ended when Michael pushed Laurie to the balcony and knocked her over the side, not unlike what happened to him 40 years earlier.

At that time, Allyson entered the house and navigated her way to her mother in the basement before Michael could find her... but Laurie disappeared from where she landed outside.

Answer: A trap

Michael eventually found the hidden compartment in the kitchen, but due to some tenacious thinking on Karen's part, Michael was subdued by a rifle shot and an attack from Laurie from behind. The girls escaped the basement and managed to get Michael inside and, at the last minute, they trapped him within using the built-in traps Laurie had devised and Michael's own knife, wielded by Allyson.

As the trap was sprung, several devices heated up throughout the house, torching it to the ground after Laurie dropped a flare into the gas leak below.

They managed to escape as the house trap crumbled behind them, eventually getting picked up by a passing motorist. Although Michael seemed trapped when they left, it was unknown as to whether or not he was killed in the blaze.
