Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. From start to finish, what was the body count (not just people) in the original "Halloween"?

Answer: 7

Five people and two dogs lose their lives. At the beginning, Michael kills his sister (1), then when Michael escapes from the asylum, Dr. Loomis finds a Phelps Garage tow truck with a dead mechanic (2), in the Myers house, Dr. Loomis and the sheriff find a butchered dog (3), Michael kills Lester the dog outside the Wallace house (4), later Michael kills Annie in her car (5), then he knifes Bob in the kitchen of said house (6), and finally, he strangles Lynda with a phone cord (7).
2. More fun with numbers: throughout parts 1 and 2, how many times is Michael presumed dead, only to get up again?

Answer: 5

The first time is in the original, when Laurie sticks a knitting needle in his neck, then again when she stabbs him with his own knife in the closet, then at the end, Dr. Loomis shoots him down and he walks away. The next time is towards the end of part 2, after they blast him again, he proceeds to scalpel the first guy who checks his pulse.

The last time is when Dr. Loomis blows him (and himself) up at the end, Michael starts walking while on fire. He only walks for a little bit, I know, but nevertheless, nobody expects him to get up and try to walk off the explosion.
3. There were certain, subtle differences in Michael Myers himself between parts 1 and 2. Which of these is not one of those differences?

Answer: his motives

First of all, the mask in part 2 doesn't look quite like part 1 (which is all supposed to occur the same night). This may only be due to wear and tear between the making of the two movies, but the mask does look different nonetheless. Secondly, whereas in part 1, Michael's main hand-held weapon was the butcher knife, since he was in a hospital he spent most of part 2 walking around with a scalpel. Finally, in part 1, his walk was a lot more predatory, he seems lighter on his feet.

In part 2 (due to a new director and actor playing Michael) he looks more like he's just ambling along. Compare Michael walking down the stairs in part 1 with him doing the same in part 2. If Michael chased Laurie through the hospital basement at the pace he walked in part 1, he would have killed her easily.

His motive was always the same, we just didn't know what it was until the sequel.
4. For different reasons, Michael is mistaken for someone else a couple of times in both movies. Who, among the following, is he not mistaken for?

Answer: Sheriff Brackett

In part one, when Laurie is telling Annie about seeing Michael in her backyard, Annie replies that it must be the neighbor, Mr. Riddle. Later, Michael kills Lynda while passing himself off as Bob, by wearing a sheet on his head like a ghost. Finally in part 2, right before Michael drowns the girl in the hot tub, he walks up from behind and she believes he's her boyfriend Bud.
5. In part 2, when one of the nurses finds Dr. Mixter dead in his office, Michael slowly comes out of the shadows behind her and kills her with the help of what (think carefully)?

Answer: air

Technically, Michael plunged an empty syringe into her temple, but what actually killed her was the air inside of it. Out of the choices above, it was the logical answer. I had to make it interesting.
6. Suppose they ran an autopsy on Michael at the end of part 2 (if he were dead, which of course he wasn't), which of these would the autopsy not reveal?

Answer: one amputated finger

Laurie stabbed him in the neck and later, in the stomach with a knife. She also stabbed him the eye with a knitting needle. He was shot a few times, mostly by Dr. Loomis. The coroner would actually find BOTH of his eyes gone, from when Laurie put a bullet in each one at the end of part 2.
7. In part 1, in what house does Michael do most of his killing?

Answer: the Wallace house

Annie was babysitting Lindsey Wallace. She sent Lindsey to stay with Laurie and Tommy Doyle, and was soon killed in her car behind the Wallace house. Michael then carried her body into the house and waited for fresh victims. Sure enough, in came Bob and Lynda (soon dead), and later on, Laurie came around too, though she made it out alive.
8. At the start of part 2, how does Michael learn of Laurie's whereabouts?

Answer: he hears it on the radio

Early on, we see a shot of a kid walking down the street with his boombox on his shoulder, (oddly) listening to the radio news. The report is on a series of murders in Haddonfield, and he bumps into Michael just as they mention that one survivor was taken to Haddonfield Memorial Hospital.
9. Which of these weapons was not used by Michael in either movie?

Answer: axe

The kitchen knife is, of course, his modus operandi. The hammer found its way into the hospital security guard Mr. Garrett's skull early in part 2. The scalpel pretty much replaced the kitchen knife as Michael's carry-around tool in part 2. Michael never used an axe, at least he didn't until the disgraceful "Halloween 6".
10. And now, the $1,000,000 question: Which character, introduced in part 1, was killed in part 2 (think really hard)?

Answer: Ben Tramer

OK, so it's a kind of a cheap question. Ben was not actually seen in part 1, only mentioned (Laurie told Annie she had a thing for him). In part 2, when the teenager in the Michael Myers mask gets run over by a car, we later find out that his name is... Ben Tramer! Michael Myers and Dr. Loomis were presumed dead, but actually survived to be in subsequent sequels. If you got this one right, you qualify as a hardcore "Halloween" buff.
