Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What did Bart's chalkboard say during the opening credits?

Answer: I will not illegally download this movie.

The idea for a "Simpsons" movie had been thought up years ago. In 1997, the producers secured the Internet domain www.simpsonsmovie.com. After several failed attempts, due to lack of staff and lack of script, production on the movie finally began in 2001.

The movie was supposed to premier in the summer of 2006, but was delayed a year to revise the script, re-do some voice work and generally make the movie as perfect as possible. There were countless deleted, re-worked and alternate scenes (produced to ensure that no one would know the plot of the movie) that Matt Groening has said will be released with the DVD of the movie; he was quoted as saying that it is enough material for two more movies.
2. What song was Green Day singing at the beginning of the movie?

Answer: "The Simpsons" theme

Green Day was shown playing on a barge in the polluted lake right after the opening credits of the movie. The words scrolling on the screen at the feet of singer Billie Joe Armstrong were just "Da da da da da..." over and over and he sang it to the tune of "The Simpsons" opening theme song.

When the scene was first scripted the band was not specified, but the guys in Green Day sent a letter to "The Simpsons" producers saying that they would love to be involved with the movie, and they were given the part of the band at the beginning of the movie.
3. What title did Lisa give to the environmental seminar she held at City Hall?

Answer: An Irritating Truth

After her door-to-door initiative to garner concern for pollution failed, Lisa and her friend Colin held a seminar in order to convince the townspeople that their lake was in trouble. The seminar's name was a parody of Al Gore's 2006 movie "An Inconvenient Truth", which was about climate change and global warming. Lisa and Colin were successful in getting a ban on dumping material in the lake.
4. Colin was Bono's son.

Answer: False

Colin, voiced by Tress MacNeille, was the boy whom Lisa met while she was canvassing door-to-door to get people to sign a petition protecting the lake from further pollution. Colin was also going door-to-door for environmental causes. When he ran into Lisa, he said that he was Irish and that his father was a musician, and Lisa asked "Oh, is he..." before Colin cut her off with "He's not Bono!"
5. Could Spiderpig swing from a web?

Answer: No

Homer was holding his pet pig upside down and walking it across the ceiling, singing "Spiderpig, Spiderpig, does whatever a Spiderpig does. Can he swing from a web? No he can't, 'cause he's a pig. Look out! He is the Spiderpig!"
6. What video game did Homer play at Eski-Moes bar?

Answer: Grand Theft Walrus

After the family escaped from the dome-covered Springfield, Homer convinced them to flee to Alaska. After a fight with Marge, Homer went out to Eski-Moes bar where he played 'Grand Theft Walrus'. The small scene of the game that was shown in the movie had a walrus driving around in a convertible and shooting penguins.
7. What tape did Marge record over?

Answer: Her and Homer's wedding video

As Homer, Marge and the kids were escaping from the angry mob at their home, Marge had to dash back in the house, open up her 'keepsake cabinet' and grab her and Homer's wedding video, which she stashed in her hair. Later on, after having a fight with Homer while they were in Alaska, she left to go back to Springfield and recorded a message for Homer over the wedding video.

She truly thought her marriage might be over and recording over the wedding was her way of saying she was letting go.
8. Did Mr. Burns share his electricity with the rest of the town, or did he release the hounds?

Answer: Released the hounds

Inside the dome, the residents of Springfield were experiencing rolling black-outs and eventually their power went out entirely. Some of the townspeople went to Mr. Burns' mansion, which still had a lot of electricity, to ask him to share some. He told them that he had two buttons in front of him - one would give some electricity to the rest of the town, and the other would release the hounds.

He then allowed them some time to convince him to share his electricity. After Apu told him to just look in his heart and he would know the right thing to do, Monty released the hounds.
9. Who provided the voice for Russ Cargill?

Answer: Albert Brooks

Russ Cargill was the 'villain' of the movie. He was the head of EPA who encased Springfield in a dome, and then plotted to blow up the whole town. Brooks has been a long-time collaborator with the "Simpsons" staff and has done many voices for the television show over the years, including Hank Scorpio in "You Only Move Twice", Brad Goodman in "Bart's Inner Child" and Jacques in "Life on the Fast Lane".
10. Which of these familiar faces from Springfield did NOT have a speaking role in the final cut of the movie?

Answer: Troy McClure

Neither Troy McClure nor Lionel Hutz had a speaking role in the movie, because their voice actor Phil Hartman died in 1998. Both of these characters have also not had any lines on the television series since 1998. Before Hartman's death, one of the ideas for a "Simpsons" movie was to be focused on Troy McClure.
