Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In this Disney film, a young lion cub embarks on an amazing adventure, following the death of his father. Do you know its tagline?

Answer: Life's greatest adventure is finding your place in the Circle of Life.

'The Lion King' tells the story of Simba, a lion cub whose father is murdered by Scar, Simba's Uncle. Scar leads Simba to believe that his father's death was an accident that Simba caused, so Simba runs away. He is found by a friendly warthog called Pumbaa and a meerkat named Timone.

In my opinion this tagline suits this film, because Simba realises that he has to find his own place in the circle of life, so he goes back to challenge his uncle and become the King that he really is.
2. Which one of these taglines is not from the original 'Starwars' Trilogy (IV-VI)?

Answer: A Jedi Shall Not Know Anger. Nor Hatred. Nor Love.

This tagline is, in fact from 'Starwars II : Attack of the Clones'. It suits this film because Anakin Skywalker, falls in love and gets married; hatred then causes him to change into Darth Vader. A Jedi should not know anger or hatred because these lead to the dark side of the force, which is exactly the opposite of what the Jedi stand for.
3. Which film does this tagline belong to? 'He's the only kid ever to get into trouble before he was born'?

Answer: Back to the Future

This film stars Michael J Fox as Marty McFly, a teenager who, using a time travelling DeLorean, accidentally travels into the past. This tagline is great for this film as it explains exactly what happens in the film. While he is in the past Marty follows his dad and finds out he is a Peeping Tom.

While his dad is spying on someone, he falls out of a tree into the path of a car, so Marty runs out into the road and pushes his dad out the way, getting hit by the car himself. He then finds out that his parents fall in love when his mother felt sorry for his father for getting run over. By pushing his dad out of the way Marty accidentaly stops his parents from meeting and has to find a way to make them meet each other, before he no longer exists!
4. Which film, starring James Spader and Kurt Russell 'Will Take You A Million Light Years From Home'?

Answer: Stargate

A spin-off TV show, called 'Stargate SG-1', was made after this film and this has it's own spin-off show called 'Stargate Atlantis'. In the film Kurt Russell and James Spader travel a million light years from home, through a piece of technology called the Stargate, which is what the taglines says 'Stargate', the movie, will do.
5. What is the tagline for the 2004 film 'The Day After Tomorrow'?

Answer: This year a sweater won't do.

In this film a climatologist is trying to find his son in New York City, during what appears to be a new Ice Age, and save the world from the effects of global warming. Because the film is set in an Ice Age, the tagline is correct in saying that a sweater won't do and in the film you see several people who have braved going outside, only to have frozen to death.
6. Which one of these is the tagline for the 2005 film 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'?

Answer: Oompa-Loompas are crazy for coco-beans!

Johnny Depp plays the wacky chocaltier in this children's film about a young boy who wins a trip to a chocolate factory. Willy Wonka finds his workers, the Oompa-Loompas, while he is in a foreign jungle searching for new and exotic flavours for candy.

He tells them about his chocolate factory, and they love coco-beans so much that they agree to work for him in exchange for just coco-beans as wages, hence the tagline.
7. 'Protecting the Earth from the scum of the universe' was the tagline for the movie 'Men in Black', but what was the tagline for it's sequel?

Answer: Same Planet. New Scum.

The sequel is called 'Men in Black II' and the plot involves agent Jay (Will Smith) having to help agent Kay (Tommy Lee Jones) regain his memory, then save the world from an evil alien who is looking for the Light of Zartha. Kay was present when the Light was brought to Earth many years ago, and he fell in love with Princess Lauranna, the alien who brought the Light with her.

The evil alien, who wanted the Light, killed Lauranna. Meanwhile (in the present) agent Jay starts to fall in love with a witness, named Laura, who saw someone she worked with get killed by the evil alien, and at the end of the film we find out that Laura is princess Lauranna's daughter, and that she is the light so she must leave Earth forever. Jay and Kay must find a way to save their planet from the 'new scum' that is terrorising them for the Light. So the tagline explains how they are saving Earth from New Scum.
8. 'For the good of all men, and the love of one woman, he fought to uphold justice by breaking the law'. Who does this tagline refer to?

Answer: Robin Hood

This tagline is from the film 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves', where Robin Hood is played by Kevin Costner. Robin returns from the Crusades to find his home destroyed and his father murdered. He then sets out to get revenge on the Sheriff of Nottingham, who is bribing Barons to unite against the King, so he can claim the throne of England for himself.

The tagline suits the film as Robin Hood gets revenge on the Sheriff by stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, which is breaking the law. Robin also falls in love with Marian during the film and he jumps off of a roof, then smashes through a chapel window and has a huge sword fight with the Sheriff of Nottingham, just to save her, at the end of the film.
9. Which film trilogy features these three taglines? "The Legend Comes to Life." "A New Power Is Rising." "This Christmas the journey ends."

Answer: The 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy

The 'Lord of the Rings' films were so long that when they were put on DVD, a special extended version of each film was released, showing the footage they didn't have time to show at cinemas. In the 'Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring' the wizard Gandalf tells Frodo, a hobbit, that he must take his uncle's ring to the elves in Rivendell. Frodo travels with three other hobbits, Sam, Merry and Pippin, and when they get to a place called Bree they meet a man called Aragorn, or 'Strider', and he continues with them on their journey. When they get to Rivendell the elf Elrond tells Frodo that the ring has to be taken to Mordor and destroyed. At the end of this film Frodo and Sam leave the fellowship to continue without them on their journey.
In the 'Lord of the Rings: the Two Towers' Frodo and Sam continue on their journey to Mordor to destroy the ring and a battle takes place between men and Orcs at Helms Deep.
In the 'Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King' Frodo and Sam reach Mordor and destroy the ring, meanwhile a war takes place outside Minis Tirith in Gondor. After a victorious battle Aragorn becomes the new king of Gondor. These taglines suit the films because the first film is the first book brought to life, in the second film a new army rises to attack the world of men, and the third film was released at Christmas time and this was when the journey ended.
10. Which film featured the tagline: 'A motion picture destined to offend nearly two thirds of the civilised world, and severely annoy the other third!'?

Answer: Monty Python's Life of Brian

The tagline suits this film because when it was first released this film caused outrage and was banned in some places due to it's content. It is also very funny, but quite stupid at some points and at times it can be very annoying. It featured 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life' as it's end soundtrack.

In this film a man called Brian is mistaken for being the messiah instead of Jesus. He keeps insisting he is not the messiah but he keeps making things worse for himself. At the end of the film he gets crucified by mistake and when the Roman guards figure out he didn't do the crime he was accused of someone else says they are Brian and they get taken down instead, cue the end song!
