Peter Falk's acting career began with a role in "The Pirates of Penzance" at summer camp when he was 12 years old. After his graduation from school, and a variety of jobs, his next foray into acting was performing in several plays with a community theater group, followed by an Off-Broadway production of "Don Juan".

His modest success on stage did not guarantee equal success on film, and following his performance in 1960's "Murder Inc.", and then 1961's "Pocketful of Miracles", which both earned Falk Academy Award nominations, his film career consisted mainly of smaller roles.

He did not lack for work, however, making numerous television appearances on programs such as "The Twilight Zone" and "Wagon Train". His portrayal of Lt. Frank Columbo in a 1968 TV-movie led to his starring in the series which ran from 1971 - 1978, and then 1989 - 2003.

A few of his later movies include 1976's "Murder by Death", 1986's "Big Trouble" and 1987's "The Princess Bride". And, back during his stage experience at summer camp, one of his camp counselors was Ross Martin, a future co-star in "The Great Race".

Her last film appearance was in 1968's "Never a Dull Moment".
