Sam has just graduated from high school, but doesn't yet know what path she wants to take in life. She lives with her Uncle Emmett, a troubled Vietnam veteran. Sam is interested in the Vietnam experiences of Emmett and his veteran friends, because her father died there before she was born.

The movie ends with an emotional visit to the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., by Sam, her paternal grandmother and Emmett. "In Country" (1988) also stars Joan Allen, John Terry and Kevin Anderson. Bruce Willis earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance.

Despite warnings from an oil driller about the threat of an imminent volcanic eruption, the owners of a resort on a Pacific island delay evacuating guests and residents on the island. A star-studded cast including Paul Newman, William Holden, Jacqueline Bisset, Burgess Meredith, Ernest Borgnine and James Franciscus couldn't help this movie which failed miserably at the box office. "When Time Ran Out..." (1980) was producer Irwin Allen's last feature film.

Faced with losing his girlfriend Betsy (Sarah Jessica Parker), commitment-shy Jack Singer (Nicolas Cage) finally pops the question. They fly to Las Vegas to get married, but Jack is lured into a poker game with a high roller named Tommy Korman (James Caan). Korman is smitten by Betsy because of her resemblance to his late wife, and fixes the game so Jack will lose.

He then offers to exchange Jack's $65,000 debt for a weekend with Betsy. Jack convinces Betsy to agree, but immediately regrets his decision.

He goes to great lengths, and heights, to get Betsy back. "Honeymoon in Vegas" (1992) also stars Pat Morita and Peter Boyle.

Answer: Hiding Out

Andrew Morenski (Jon Cryer) flees after he realizes that mobsters are trying to kill him for what he knows about their underhanded dealings. After changing his identity to Max Hauser, he enrolls at his cousin's high school. Max gets a girlfriend, and even runs for class president before the bad guys find him. From 1987, "Hiding Out" also stars Keith Coogan and Annabeth Gish.

Will has come up with the idea of a play about pirates, but is unable to work on it due to writer's block. After meeting Viola De Lesseps, Will is inspired by their relationship to write a romance he calls "Romeo and Juliet". "Shakespeare in Love" (1998) also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Ben Affleck and Judi Dench. Joseph Fiennes also appears in "Enemy at the Gates", "Elizabeth" and "Stealing Beauty".

A classic film-noir, "Out of the Past" (1947) stars Robert Mitchum as a private eye named Jeff. Jeff is hired by Whit Sterling (Kirk Douglas) to find his runaway girlfriend, Kathie. Kathie had shot Sterling and stolen money from him, but Sterling wanted her back. Jeff finds Kathie and falls in love with her himself.

They try to keep their relationship a secret, but Jeff's former partner finds them and is killed by Kathie. Jeff disappears and changes his name. He's living quietly in a small town until one of Sterling's goons recognizes him. Jeff is summoned to Sterling's to do another job, and is surprised to find Kathie there. Jane Greer played the female lead, Kathie Moffat, in "Out of the Past".

In "Against All Odds" (1984), she plays the female lead's mother, Grace Wyler.

The remake stars Jeff Bridges, Rachel Ward and James Woods.

Working-class Andie (Molly Ringwald) is adored by her crazy friend, Duckie (Jon Cryer), but falls in love with wealthy Blane McDonnagh (Andrew McCarthy). Andie's co-worker at the record store, the eccentric Iona (Annie Potts), gives Andie advice and a shoulder to cry on after Blane and Andie begin dating. Blane gives in to the doubts of his friends and doesn't ask Andie to the prom, but later realizes his mistake. James Spader and Harry Dean Stanton also star in "Pretty in Pink" (1986).

The plots for both versions involve the misfortunes that befall a couple who travel to New York. The husband goes there to see about a job, and the wife tags along. In the 1999 version, Martin and Hawn play Henry and Nancy Clark. In the 1970 version, George and Gwen Kellerman were played by Lemmon and Dennis, who earned Best Actor and Actress nominations at the Golden Globes.

Pedro (Cheech Marin) and Man (Tommy Chong) spend a lot of time trying to score some drugs, even while they're unknowingly driving in a van made of marijuana. Stacy Keach plays the cop who is following them in hopes of making an arrest. The first in the series of Cheech and Chong movies, "Up in Smoke" was released in 1978.

Later called the "Black Sox" after the scandal was exposed, eight players on the team were accused of accepting payment to throw the World Series. David Strathairn, D.B.
