Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What half-Italian, half-Irish actor appeared in "The Thin Red Line," "The Devil's Rain," and "Moment to Moment"?

Answer: John Travolta

All of them were in "Red Line," but only Travolta was in the other two movies - early in his career. He had a short scene in "Red Line" as Brigadier General Quintard.
2. What character actor was in "Raging Bull," "Goodfellas," "Casino," and "Jungle Fever"?

Answer: Frank Vincent

No, not Joe Pesci. Vincent, AKA Frank Gatteso, played Salvy in "Raging Bull." He was the mob guy who got the poop kicked out of him by Joey La Motta (Joe Pesci) at the Copacabana nightclub. In "Goodfellas," he was Billy Batts, the ill-fated "made guy" who insulted Tommy (yep, Pesci again) one time too many.

In "Casino," he was Frank Marino, Pesci's friend who eventually had to finger him to be whacked. In "Jungle Fever," he played Mike Tucci, the Italian girl's father.
3. This person was in "The Alamo" and "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea."

Answer: Frankie Avalon

Of course, the former Francis Avallone also appeared in "Beach Party," etc., and made a notable appearance as Teen Angel in "Grease" (1978).
4. Who appeared in "Capone," "Death Race 2000," and "Cannonball"?

Answer: Sylvester Stallone

These were 3 of Sly's early credits in the 70s. His original name was Michael Sylvester Stallone. He also appeared as Stud in "The Party at Kitty and Stud's," but this probably won't be part of the retrospective when they honor Sly at the AFI.
5. Who played a character named David "Noodles" Aaronson?

Answer: Robert De Niro

The movie was "Once upon a Time in America," (1984) directed by Sergio Leone. The story of four Jewish gangsters in NYC from the early 1900s until the 60s. A long but worthwhile movie. Joe Pesci is in it also, needless to say.
6. What is Robert de Niro's ancestry?

Answer: part Italian but mostly Irish

Surprised? Me, too!
7. Who became a prominent actor in the 50s playing characters whose last names were Judson and Pilletti?

Answer: Ernest Borgnine

Borgnine played stockade commander "Fatso" Judson in "From Here to Eternity" and homely Bronx butcher Marty Pilletti in "Marty," for which he won an Oscar as Best Actor, as Herb Stempel would be glad to tell you! Borgnine was married to Ethel Merman. Now there's a cute couple! Bet you know that Dino Crocetti was Dean Martin's real name!
8. Who was Toby in "This Boy's Life" as well as Arnie, Gilbert Grape's brother?

Answer: Leonardo DiCaprio

These roles established Leonardo as a star. AT age 5, however, he was almost thrown off the TV show "Romper Room" for misbehaving.
9. Who played a prospector in the forgettable 1979 movie "Summer Camp"?

Answer: Dustin Pacino

I apologize for this question, but I couldn't resist! What a great name! But I have to think it was made up. "Summer Camp" also had original music by Sparky Sugarman! You can't miss with that!
10. Al Pacino's full first name is or was:

Answer: Alfredo

Alfredo Pacino: just too big a mouthful! Before he became a Corleone, Al played Tony in "Me, Natalie" and Bobby in "The Panic in Needle Park."
