To this, Jack replies the clever line, "Unless of course he knew you wouldn't believe the truth even if he told it to you." That keeps the soldiers confused a little while longer.

There is one by his pirates brand that has a sparrow flying over the ocean. It can be seen when Norrington pushes up his sleeve to reveal the pirate brand on his arm. It is also how Norrington learned his name.

Once he is given his gun, he holds it to Elizabeth's head while she puts on the rest of his possesions. He then shoves her towards the soldiers and says one of the movie's most popular lines, "Today, gentleman, is the day you will always remember as the day you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow!" He grabs a rope and makes what seems to be a dramatic escape until the rope goes out of control and he flies around in circles a few times.

Answer: Put them between two gears after he touched hot metal to the donkey that controlled them.

Then Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) entered and Jack was forced to hide. Soon after, when Will noticed Jack's hat, a sword fight ensued. Will turned out to be quite a good swordsman, and when Jack was almost out the door, Will threw the sword so that it stuck in the door an inch away from Jack's head.

He was picking the lock with a piece of bone but when he heard someone coming, he immediately stopped what he was doing and pretended he had just been sleeping on the floor of his cell. Will then offers to get him out if Jack would help him and Jack agrees after finding out Will's name.

They then put on an act as if they are trying to steal the HMS Dauntless, which is a ship loaded with cannons. Once all the soldiers are on The Dauntless trying to stop them, Jack and Will swing over to the Interceptor, the fastest ship in the Caribbean, save The Black Pearl, and sail off, but not before disabling the rudder on The Dauntless. Jack's parting words are, "Thank you, Commodore, for getting us ready to make way! We would have had such a hard time on our own!" Then one of Norrington's men says, "That has got to be the best pirate I've ever seen." That statement contradicts Norrington's frequent saying, "That's got to be the worst pirate I've ever seen." Just a little humor! :)

The leverage is that Will is the only child of pirate Bootstrap Bill Turner, who, as we find out later in the movie, has the blood needed to break the curse on the pirates of The Black Pearl. Since Bootstrap is dead, his child's blood must be used.

Once was by a red-headed woman, Scarlet, and Jack didn't think he deserved it. After he was slapped by her, a blonde woman, Giselle, walked up and said, "Who was she?" She then slapped him. Jack thought he may have deserved that one. Later, another woman, Anamaria, slapped him for stealing her boat. Will said, "And I suppose you didn't deserve that one either?", to which Jack replied, "No, that one I deserved." Then Anamaria slapped him again for good measure.

Actually, Jack wanted to leave him on an island with nothing but his word and shout the name back at him as he sailed off in The Black Pearl. When Barbossa didn't want to trust Jack's word, Jack replied, "Of all of us here, I'm the only one who hasn't committed mutiny, so it's my word we'll be trusting." Jack had been the captain of The Black Pearl, but the crew committed mutiny and left him on an island with nothing but a pistol with one shot. Jack managed to escape twice from that island, and is saving that one shot for Barbossa, his mutinous first mate.

Barbossa's monkey was named Jack. The monkey stole the coin that they needed back from Elizabeth and Jack the pirate was chasing Jack the monkey until he climbed onto Barbossa's shoulder. Barbossa said, "Thank you, Jack," to which Jack the pirate replied, "You're welcome." Then Barbossa said, "Not you, we named the monkey Jack."

He actually tried to cover it up. Will threatened to kill himself if they didn't let Elizabeth go free, and this was important to the pirates because they needed Will's blood. Of course they didn't know this yet, so Barbossa asked, "Who are you?" Jack tried to cover for Will by saying, "No one! He's no one. Just a distant cousin of my aunt's...nephew." The pirates ignored Jack and Will answered that he was the son of Bootstrap Bill Turner.

They made the bargain, the only problem being that Will "failed to specify when or where" Elizabeth went free and they made her walk the plank off the deserted island that Jack had once been marooned on.

They also made Jack walk the plank to the same island.

"A rudder, sails, that's what a ship needs. What a ship is, what The Black Pearl really is, is freedom." This quote was spoken by Jack when he and Elizabeth were stranded on the same island that he had once been stranded on before. Jack was drunk and Elizabeth was pretending to be drunk.

The next morning she burned all the alchohol that Jack had found on the island. The smoke signal showed the British Navy where they were and they were rescued.

Barbossa rolls his eyes and asks, "Why do I not want to be killing him just yet?" Jack explains that the British Navy is waiting for them just outside and if they wait to lift the curse, they can kill all the soldiers without dying themselves. He bargains with Barbossa and ends up making a deal: Jack gets The Black Pearl and Barbossa gets 25% of Jack's plunders, The Dauntless, which is a British Navy ship, and a new hat. Jack secretly keeps a cursed coin so that later, when he betrays Barbossa, he won't die in the swordfight that ensues.

He says that he is a dishonest man and dishonest men can always be trusted to be dishonest. Honest men, on the other hand, are unpredictable because you can never tell when they are about to do something incredibly stupid. Then he takes a sword from a pirate and tosses it to Will.

Another swordfight ensues and this is where Jack reveals to Barbossa that he stole a coin and cannot be killed.

My favorite of his departing words is to Elizabeth: "Elizabeth, things would never have worked between us. I'm sorry." And of course, another favorite would be his light departing words to Will: "Nice hat!"

He sails away into the distance on The Black Pearl. Can you say sequel? I can't wait!
