Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swann were marooned on the island together, the reasons she gives for the rum being gone are that it is a vile drink and that the signal she has created is over 10,000 feet high, and the whole navy that is searching for her has to see it.

Answer: False

Instead of the signal being 10,000 feet high, it is only 1,000. After she sits down Jack has to resist the urge to shoot her then because of their supplies being destroyed. Once he sees a British ship, however, he realizes that "There will be no living with her after this..."
2. How many times is The Pirate's Code referred to as guidelines, and by whom? (In order!)

Answer: 3; Captain Barbossa, Elizabeth, Mr. Gibbs

The Pirate's Code is referred to as being more of guidelines than anything else three times, first by Captain Barbossa when he welcomes Elizabeth aboard, second by Elizabeth when she attempts to rouse Jack's "able-bodied crew" to help her, and the third by Mr. Gibbs when Jack arrives on the Black Pearl at the end of the movie, and it never gets old. Jack also makes a reference to the Code, when he and Will go into the cave to save Elizabeth from the pirates.
3. Who directed "Pirates of the Caribbean", and what is another movie he has directed?

Answer: Gore Verbinski, "The Ring"

Gore Verbinski directed "Pirates of the Caribbean", and who's to say he didn't do an excellent job? He made sure things were done right. His direction of "The Ring" shows us that he puts all his energy into making the movie people will go to see, no matter what it's about.
4. The cursed crew named a dog after the captain they committed mutiny against.

Answer: False

A monkey, in fact, was named after Jack, to spite him more than anything else. Or perhaps it was simply in rememberance of the captain they left on a spit of land. Of course, they didn't think they'd be seeing Captain Jack Sparrow again...
5. In the movie, how many times is Jack locked up in a cell?

Answer: Two times

Jack was locked in a cell twice in the movie (Once in Port Royal, the second time on The Black Pearl). He was put in irons once (in Port Royal), and when he and Elizabeth were rescued from the island, he says, "I know, clap him in irons, right?" But do you notice the grim look of half disappointment when they don't? Just a little thing I noticed that made me laugh.
6. How many men were there in the cell next to Jack while he was at the fort?

Answer: Four

This part of the movie is interesting. I have been on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Walt Disney World (Florida), and there was in fact a part of the ride where you pass by four pirates in a cell, while one holds a bone out to a dog exactly the like of the one in the movie, who is holding the keys on a ring in his mouth.
7. How many keys were on the ring the dog had?

Answer: Four

The dog did, in fact, have four keys on the ring he held in his mouth. This one was just to see how closely you were watching. The dog is shown several times, but not more than three. You'd really have to pay attention to details to get this one.
8. Our wonderful pirate Captain Jack Sparrow loves having a different assortment of beads in his hair, which is put into dread locks. How many strands of beads are there? (Hint, hint: This only includes the strands with beads in them, not the actual dread locks or any 'other' items he might have tied in his hair)

Answer: Three

There were, in fact, only three strands in Jack Sparrow's hair that contained beads. The 'other', the one strand my hint is talking about, is the strand with the bone in it. Another interesting bit of information is that on one of the posters on which Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow is by himself, the bead strands are backwards.

The strand of beads with the coin hangs on his left side, and if you'll look closer, the strands of beads that hang down by his ears also switch sides. Just something I noted.
9. How many pieces of Aztec Gold total were in the stone chest?

Answer: 882

This interesting fact is only mentioned once, when Barbossa is talking to Elizabeth over dinner. I had to wonder why it was just the number 882, not some round number like 890 or 900, for that matter.
10. How much did you pay attention to Captain Jack Sparrow's lines? Tell me which one is WRONG.

Answer: "When you marooned me on that godforsaken piece of spit, you forgot one very important thing: I'm Captain Jack Sparrow!"

Actually, instead of saying, "When you marooned me on that godforsaken -piece of spit-, you forgot one very important thing: I'm Captain Jack Sparrow!" He said "When you marooned me on that godforsaken -spit of land-, you forgot one very important thing, mate: I'm Captain Jack Sparrow!" He said this to Captain Barbossa, upon being questioned as to how he had gotten off the island they marooned him on the first time.
"You seem somewhat familiar, have I threatened you before?" was said to Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), just before the swashbuckling fight between the two erupted.
"Stop blowing holes in my ship!" is not said to anyone in particular, because Jack is in the cell in The Black Pearl, while The Black Pearl and his own "able-bodied crew" on The Interceptor were fighting.
"But... why is the rum gone?!" is asked of Elizabeth Swann, while the two are marooned on the island. Elizabeth had torched all of their supplies along with a few trees on the part of the island they had, so she could make a signal to the British Navy so that they would be rescued.
