Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these horror movies was the first to see a release date?

Answer: Black Christmas

All of these films were released two years apart of each other. "Black Christmas" was the first to be released in 1974. It revolved around a sorority house that was having its sisters killed by a psycho. The killings were all happening over the Christmas season. The film starred one of my all time favorite actors, Margot Kidder.

Bob Clark directed this infamous film. Bob was probably best known as the director for "A Christmas Story". Black Christmas was remade in 2006, it was not a box office hit. "Carrie" was released in 1976. "Halloween" was released in 1978. "Friday the 13th" was released in 1980.
2. Where did Cujo get bitten?

Answer: nose

Cujo was doing what all dogs do instinctively, he was chasing a rabbit. Unfortunately for Cujo, the rabbit went into a hole that contained bats. Cujo stirred up the bats and one bit him on the nose. This once sweet lovable dog turned into a psychotic killing machine.

Lewis Teague directed this Stephen King book turned movie. The movie starred one of my favorite scream queens, Dee Wallace Stone. She played the mother to Tad Trenton and Donna Trenton. She was having troubles with her car and took it to a mechanic. The dog had gone rabid by now and attacked the car immediately. The boy survived in the movie, but died in the book. Lewis did a wonderful job with this movie. He also directed another Stephen King movie, "The Cat's Eye". Cujo was released in 1983.
3. Margaret said, "They're all going to laugh at you". What movie was this quote from?

Answer: Carrie

Carrie was preparing for the prom. Carrie was already to go, but her mom was trying to talk her out of it. She told her daughter basically that she was going to make a fool out of herself. Carrie went to the prom with the date she was set up with. She was having a wonderful time and had just won Prom Queen. Then suddenly as she was standing on stage, a bucket of blood dropped on her head. Carrie unleashed her psychic ability on all who were around her.

Brian DePalma directed this Stephen King book. Brian would later make a big splash in the horror genre with his movie "Dressed To Kill". Brian has directed a great many movies, but my all time favorite is still "Dressed To Kill". Carrie had a stellar cast with Sissy Spacek, Piper Laurie, Amy Irving, P.J. Soles, and John Travolta. Piper Laurie, who played Mrs. White was the one who spoke this famous line. "Carrie" was released in 1976.
4. Who briefly directed "Piranha 2: The Spawning"?

Answer: James Cameron

James Cameron only worked on this film for two and a half weeks before the producer fired him. The producer took over, but Cameron's name was left on the credits. I found this information out while I was gathering facts for my quiz. According to an interview James did, he thought he was doing a good job and then he got the axe. That kind of behavior is in my opinion appropriate for this genre, people usually die by axe killing.

The movie was released in 1978. It was intended to be a sequel to the first, but I don't remember any flying fish in the first. It took place at a Caribbean resort. My favorite scenes was when they set the explosives to destroy where the piranha live, a sunken ship. You could see the guy swimming for his life to clear the area before it exploded.
Brian DePalma has directed "Carrie" and "Dressed To Kill".
Steven Spielberg directed one of the greatest movies of all times, "Jaws".
Wes Craven directed "The Hills Have Eyes" and "Nightmare on Elm Street".
5. Which movie's tag line says, "Old School American Horror"?

Answer: Hatchet

Adam Green directed this film from 2007. When I first heard the tag line, I got extremely excited. Then there was all the hype that was around the movie and how it was a return to the kind of 1980s' slasher movie I liked.

The movie was about a disfigured young boy, Victor Crowley who was teased and tormented by the other local boys. His dad eventually was the one who caused his death - accidentally of course. Victor had become a local legend in his home town. A group of tourists went out on a swamp tour and of course got stranded where Victor's house was. One by one Victor killed them until there were no survivors. Several horror movie icons appear in "Hatchet", Kane Hodder and Robert Englund.
6. In "Sleepaway Camp", how did Angela's dad die?

Answer: Angela's dad was killed in a boating accident.

Angela's brother, Peter also died in the boating accident. Angela was adopted by her crazy Aunt. It was revealed at the end of the movie that Angela was not only the killer, but a boy too. Angela was actually Peter, her brother whom everyone thought was dead.

Felissa Rose played the role of Angela. She was a very sweet girl in the film. It was a genuine shock when she turned out to be the killer. "Sleepaway Camp" was released in 1983. The film was directed by Robert Hitzik. Robert also wrote and directed "Sleepaway Camp". He followed up with "Return to Sleepaway Camp" in 2008.
7. How did Ben die in "Halloween 2"?

Answer: None of these answers are correct.

Dr. Loomis saw whom he thought was Michael crossing the street. He yelled for Michael to stop. The person turned and looked at Sam, but continued to walk. A vehicle crashed into Ben pinning him to an ambulance. The vehicle exploded and set Ben on fire. Meanwhile, the real Michael was making his way to the hospital to finish what he started.

Rick Rosenthal took the helm for the sequel to "Halloween". He did a good job with the film, but in my opinion it didn't live up to the first. Jamie Lee Curtis returned in the role of Laurie Strode. The film was released in 1981.
8. What song did the little girl sing in "Friday the 13th" sequel?

Answer: Itsy Bitsy Spider

It was the beginning of the movie and we saw the little girl splashing in puddles. We heard her singing the nursery rhyme. Her mom called for her to come inside the house. The little girl's name was Jesse. She went into the house and we saw a pair of boots step down from the curb. The feet were the only part of both Jesse and Jason we saw.

Steve Miner was the director on the film. The film was released in 1981. Steve Miner did an excellent job in moving the killer from Mrs. Voorhees to her son, Jason. The song according to Wikipedia has an origin of circa 1910. It is also identified as "Eency Weency Spider".
9. What was the tag line for "Piranha 3D"?

Answer: This Summer 3D Shows Its Teeth

The movie was set in a small lakeside community that relied heavily on the dollars from the college students on Spring break. Due to a earthquake, that shook and split the bottom of the lake, a school of piranha were released. Their first victim was a fisherman, who was enjoying a few cold beers while fishing. The piranha went on a destructive eating feast, they bit anything that got in their way.

Alexandre Aja served as both a writer and the director on this remake of the classic movie by the same name. The movie shared a great deal, in my opinion of similarities with "Jaws". The movie even had Richard Dreyfus singing the same song that he sang with Quint while on the boat. "Piranha 3D" was released in August of 2010.
10. In "Silent Night, Deadly Night", how did Billy's parents get killed?

Answer: Billy's parents were killed by Santa Claus.

The family was on their way home from visiting their grandfather when they saw a man on the side of the road. The man was dressed as Santa Claus. When the father asked Santa if he needed a ride, he shot the dad and killed him. Santa then assaulted Billy's mom and killed her by cutting her throat. Billy and his brother, Ricky were taken to St. Mary's Orphanage after the murders. Years passed and we saw Billy as a young man, he got a job at a department store. Billy was doing really well until the manager made Billy dress as Santa. Billy went on a killing spree after that, killing all the people he thought were naughty.

"Silent Night, Deadly Night" was released in 1984. The movie was directed by Charles Sellier. The movie really disturbed me especially the scene were the mom was assaulted and killed. It is definitely a camp kind of movie. All I have to say is, "Naughty".
