Question 1 of 10
1. (1997) He runs a gossip paper in Los Angeles in the 50s, and is always paying off the police so that they'll make a big bust while he's there to capture it on film. He gets in over his head though, and pays for it with his life.
His catch phrase is, 'Off the record, on the QT, and very hush, hush!'
Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. (1994) Although Peter and Sabrina write for competing newspapers in Chicago, when they investigate the mystery behind a major train derailment, they realize that it makes more sense to combine their efforts, rather than duplicate them. Of course, if they happen to fall in love along the way, who's it going to hurt? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. (1941) When newspaper tycoon Charles Foster Kane dies, he utters one single, enigmatic word. Reporter Jedediah Leland finds himself obsessed with the need to understand what that word meant. Kane's story is then told through a series of flashback, as Leland interviews the people who played significant roles in Kane's life.

Answer: (Two Words)
Question 4 of 10
4. (2003) Andie writes for 'Composure' magazine, and needs to do some research for an article about getting dumped. Ben is an advertising executive who has accepted a bet that he can make a woman fall in love with him in a certain time frame. Of course they hook up with each other, but it's not coincidental - it's set up by some people who are aware of both their situations. Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. (1999) Steve Everett is a journalist who drinks too much, likes women too much, and generally can't seem to stay out of trouble. When a colleague is killed in a car accident, he is given the last minute assignment of covering an imminent execution. Before long he realizes that the condemned man is probably innocent, but only has less than a day to prove it. Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. (1993) Phil Connors is a weatherman who makes little attempt to hide his disdain for just about anything or anyone. When he is forced to live the same day over, and over, and over again, he eventually learns to have a little more appreciation for life, and a little more compassion for other people.

Answer: (Two Words)
Question 7 of 10
7. (1984) Marty Di Bergi is a film maker who wants to make a documentary, or rather a 'rockumentary' as he calls it, about a band that is touring from England. What he ends up capturing is the documented history of the decline and break-up of the band, followed by its triumphant reunion. This spoof of the entire rock and roll industry is extremely witty, and hysterically funny. Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. (1982) Guy Hamilton was a foreign correspondent who was stationed in Indonesia in the mid 60s, when everything got crazy there. Partnered with Billy Kwan, an idealistic photographer whose sympathies were with the people of Indonesia, Guy became involved with a diplomat who helped him out and fed him information. This very powerful movie was largely about trust and betrayal. Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. (1987) Jane and Aaron form the perfect news team, they're both tough purists, who believe in hard news, delivered in a blunt fashion. Tom represents the complete opposite approach to delivering the news, groomed and smooth, with lots of entertainment value, but very little depth at all - just like Tom in fact. Things get interesting as the three of them jockey for position in the network, especially when they form a very unlikely love triangle. Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. (2003) Television reporter Bruce Nolan really is very unhappy with the way his life is going. He hates the assignments that he gets handed, gets beat up when trying to help someone out, and gets passed over for the anchorman position that he coveted so badly. Of course none of this is his fault, and he's constantly berating God for not listening to his prayers and giving him a better shot. So one day God decides to let Bruce take over for a while, to see if he can do any better - but it turns out not to be as easy as Bruce thought it would be.

Answer: L.A. Confidential

Dan De Vito played the somewhat sleazy Sid Hudgens in this movie about drugs, dirty police, and hookers groomed to look like movie stars. Curtis Hanson directed and Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Kim Basinger, James Cromwell and Guy Pearce starred.

Answer: I Love Trouble

Charles Shyer directed this funny movie involving goat's milk that causes cancer. Julia Roberts, Nick Nolte, Saul Rubinet, Robert Loggia and Olympia Dukakis starred.

Answer: Citizen Kane

Orson Wells both directed and starred in this amazing movie based on the life of William Randolph Hurst. Joseph Cotton, and Agnes Moorehead also starred.

Answer: How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

Donald Petrie directed this funny film that starred Kate Hudson, Matthew McConaughey and Bebe Neuwirth.

Answer: True Crime

Clint Eastwood directed himself in this less than believable film. The hardest thing for me to see past was the 69 year old (at the time of release) Eastwood trying to pass himself off as a stud who still got all the young chicks. This fact alone greatly detracted from the believability of the movie, never mind the improbability of the basic premise. Isaiah Washington, James Woods, Denis Leary and Michael McKean also starred.
6. (1993) Phil Connors is a weatherman who makes little attempt to hide his disdain for just about anything or anyone. When he is forced to live the same day over, and over, and over again, he eventually learns to have a little more appreciation for life, and a little more compassion for other people.

Answer: Groundhog Day

Harold Ramis directed this very funny movie that starred Bill Murray, Andie McDowell and Chris Elliott.

Answer: This is Spinal Tap

Rob Reiner directed this masterpiece that starred Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, Harry Shearer, and himself, to name but a few. Okay so I'm pushing it by calling Marty a journalist - but he was making a documentary, which is sort of like journalism, and the movie was way too funny to exclude!

Answer: The Year of Living Dangerously

Peter Weir directed this film that starred Mel Gibson, Linda Hunt and Sigourney Weaver. Hunt took home an Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her portrayal of male photographer Billy Kwan.

Answer: Broadcast News

James L. Brooks directed this funny movie that starred William Hurt, Albert Brooks, Holly Hunter, Joan Cusack and Jack Nicholson.

Answer: Bruce Almighty

Tom Shadyac directed this comedy that starred Morgan Freeman, Jim Carrey, Jennifer Aniston and Philip Baker Hall. I'm not normally much of a Carey fan, so I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this film.
