Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Jurassic Park 3", what does Billy steal?

Answer: Raptor eggs

Billy pretends to be taking photos of a Velociraptor nesting site. Dr. Grant later discovers two raptor eggs hidden in Billy's camera bag.
2. In "The Lost World", what are the tiny green dinosaurs called?

Answer: Compsognathus

Commonly referred to as "Compies", Compsognathus are the smallest dinosaurs featured in the "Jurassic Park" series, standing no taller than the average chicken.

Although "The Lost World" depicted Compsognathus as having a venomous bite, there is no fossil evidence to support this idea.
3. In "Jurassic Park 3", there's a fight between which two large dinosaurs?

Answer: T-Rex and Spinosaurus

The Spinosaurus kills the T-Rex by breaking its neck.

Ceratosaurus also makes an appearance in the movie, but only for a few short moments.

Triceratops, Baryonyx and Suchomimus are all mentioned but not actually seen.
4. In "Jurassic Park 3", what are the flying animals that attack the main characters?

Answer: Pteranodons

The Pteranodons first appear at the end of "The Lost World" but have a more major appearance in "Jurassic Park 3".

I would also like to point out that Pteranodon isn't actually classed as being a dinosaur. It belonged to a separate group of animals called Pterosaurs.
5. In "The Lost World", why do the Stegosaurus attack Sarah?

Answer: She gets too close to their baby.

Sarah is taking close-up photos of a baby Stegosaurus when her camera reaches the end of its film and starts to rewind.

The baby Steg, frightened by the strange noise, lets out a loud alarm call, prompting the adults to come to its defense.
6. In "Jurassic Park 3", what happens to Mr. Kirby's satellite phone?

Answer: The Spinosaurus eats it.

After their plane has a very bumpy landing, Nash asks if anyone has a satellite phone. Mr. Kirby has one so he allows Nash to borrow it. Seconds later, the Spinosaurus rips off the front half of plane and eats both Nash and the phone.

Later in the movie, the phone can be heard ringing inside the Spinosaurus's stomach.
7. In "Jurassic Park", how does the lawyer die?

Answer: He's eaten by the T-Rex.

This is one of the most memorable scenes in "Jurassic Park". The lawyer, Donald Gennaro, is hiding in an unfinished toilet block when the T-Rex rips it down. There's the lawyer sitting on the toilet in the pouring rain.

I'll always remember the way the T-Rex looks at him while he's sitting there, almost as if to say "Are you edible?"

Dennis Nedry is killed by the Dilophosaurus while Mr. Arnold and Robert Muldoon are killed by the Raptors.
8. In "The Lost World", which American city is thrown into chaos by a rampaging T-Rex?

Answer: San Diego

Part of this movie revolves around the actions of a company called InGen. John Hammond, the man who built 'Jurassic Park', loses control of InGen after a British family on a yacht cruise accidentally land on the "Site B" island, Isla Sorna, and their little girl is injured by a group of hungry "Compies".

Later in the movie InGen's true intentions are revealed when John Hammond's nephew, Peter Ludlow, ships an adult T-Rex and its infant to San Deigo. Unfortunately, nothing goes according to plan. The adult Rex escapes, rampages through the city streets and causes a few hundred million dollars worth of damage.
9. In "The Lost World", which main character kicks a Velociraptor out of a window?

Answer: Kelly

Ian Malcolm's daughter, Kelly, stows away in the research group's trailers and is only found when her father and the rest of the research group return to the trailers after their encounter with the Stegosaurus herd.

Kelly is a talented gymnast and proves this by kicking a hungry Velociraptor out of a window. Her father responds with the line, "The school cut you from the team?" in reference to the fact that Kelly was removed from her school's gymnastics team.
10. In "Jurassic Park", what does Dr. Grant say when he sees the dinosaurs for the first time?

Answer: "Um....it's....it's a dinosaur."

Dr. Alan Grant is a Palaeontologist (a scientist who studies animal fossils). His girlfriend, Dr. Ellie Sattler, is a Palaeobotanist (a scientist who studies plant fossils).

When John Hammond invites them to visit a tropical island that he owns, he doesn't tell them anything about the place. They travel to the island via helicopter and are driving to the Visitor's Centre when they encounter an enormous Brachiosaurus. At first, all Dr. Grant can do is stare and point.
11. In "The Lost World", why do the Rexes attack the research group's trailers?

Answer: They can see their infant inside.

Nick finds the injured baby Rex at InGen's campsite and takes the infant to the trailers so it can have its broken leg fixed.

Alerted by their infant's cries, the adult Rexes find and attack the trailers.
12. In "Jurassic Park", which species of dinosaur hatches in the lab?

Answer: Velociraptor

During a tour of the Visitor's Centre, the main characters stop at the Lab and are just in time to watch one of the dinosaur eggs hatch.

When Dr. Grant enquires about the species of the hatchling, one of the scientists tells him it's a Velociraptor.
13. In "Jurassic Park 3", why do Mr. and Mrs. Kirby want to go to Isla Sorna?

Answer: To search for their son

Mr. and Mrs. Kirby intend on travelling to Isla Sorna after their 12-year-old son, Eric, and family friend, Ben Hilderbrand, go missing while para-sailing around the island.

They trick Billy and Dr. Grant into going with them by saying that they have permission to fly over Isla Sorna for their wedding anniversary (when they're actually divorced).

Soon after arriving on the island, they find the para-sail stuck in a tree with Ben's body still in the harness. The Kirbys are later reunited with their son.
14. In "Jurassic Park", which dinosaur is found sick in a field?

Answer: Triceratops

While searching through the field, Dr. Sattler finds a plant called West Indian Lilac. She thinks the Triceratops might have gotten sick from eating the plant's poisonous berries. However, when she studies the dinosaur's droppings, she finds no trace of any Lilac berries.
15. In "Jurassic Park", there's a massive power failure. Who gets the phones, electric fences and other major park systems up and running again?

Answer: Lex and Ellie

Dennis Nedry is the one who actually causes the power failure, in an attempt to steal dinosaur embryos from the lab and sell them.

While the power failure doesn't switch off EVERY electrical item, the main characters choose to shut down the entire system. Unfortunately, this switches off the electrical items that are still on, including the fence around the Raptor enclosure. Thankfully, Lex and Ellie figure out how to get everything up and running and back to normal again.
