Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. wolf

Answer: Sheriff of Nottingham

He insists that he is not a bad guy but the Sheriff of Nottingham is truly the big bad wolf. He enforces Prince John's unjust taxation rules, pursues Robin Hood relentlessly and takes delight in his bullying tactics. Pat Buttram loaned his distinctive voice to this character.
2. rooster

Answer: Alan-a-Dale

At the beginning of the movie, Alan-a-Dale introduces himself as a minstrel and is the narrator of this story of folk hero Robin Hood. He strums the lute with his agile feathers and throughout the movie entertains the audience with his tunes. He was voiced by singer Roger Miller who wrote songs for the movie and performed them himself.
3. badger

Answer: Friar Tuck

A devout man of the cloth, Friar Tuck was portrayed as a badger. Badgers are notoriously known for their aggressive demeanor and Disney's Friar Tuck version reflects this trait. When cornered by the bad guys, the good holy man comes out fighting. On the flip side, however, he displays compassion for the oppressed folks of Nottingham.

He was voiced by Andy Devine, who is recognized by his raspy and crackly speech.
4. crocodile

Answer: Captain of the Guard

Candy Candido provided the deep voice for the Captain of the Guard, who is the backup muscle for Prince John. He is one of the most cruel of the bad guys. He carries a double-headed battle-ax and bullies Nottingham residents unmercifully. He also serves as announcer at the archery contest.
5. turtle

Answer: Toby

Toby, a young turtle, is a companion of bunny rabbit Skippy. He is truly terrified of Prince John and often retracts his bespectacled head into his shell. Just like Skippy, he reveres Robin Hood immensely. Richie Sanders provided him with voice.
6. fox

Answer: Robin Hood

Due to the cunning nature of foxes, Disney animators chose to portray folk hero Robin Hood as such. He was an ace archer, friend to the poor, a master of disguise, antagonist to Prince John and the Sheriff of Nottingham and in love with the beautiful Maid Marian. He was voiced by Brian Bedford in the movie.
7. chicken

Answer: Lady Kluck

Lady Kluck is a hefty chicken with a Scottish accent and Maid Marian's lady-in-waiting. She's feisty, fun and is a brawler who won't back down from a fight. She is willing to confront a group of rhino guards and tends to get the better of them. Carole Shelly provided the voice of the delightful Lady Kluck.
8. lion

Answer: Prince John

Peter Ustinov voiced the character of Prince John, as well as King Richard, both portrayed as lions. Prince John is a major villain in the film. He appears as a scraggly, thumb-sucking, greedy and heartless individual. True to the theme of "Robin Hood" movies he overtaxes the poor people of Nottingham to enlarge his own wealth. He is "acting king" while his brother King Richard is away fighting in the Crusades.
King Richard makes a cameo appearance near the end of the movie when Robin and Marian marry. He is considered a good king, a just ruler and is loved by the populous.
9. vulture

Answer: Trigger

Trigger, a dimwitted vulture, gets his name from his ability to shoot his crossbow (which he names Old Betsy) with his feather fingers. He is a palace guard. His counterpart, Nutsy, another dimwitted vulture also guards the palace. They were voiced by George Lindsey and Ken Curtis, respectively.
10. mouse

Answer: Father Sexton

Sexton Mouse and his wife Little Sister were mice who worked at Friar Tuck's church. Sexton is a plucky little fellow that plays the church organ with his hands and feet. The couple give their last farthing, which they were saving for a rainy day, to the friar for the poor. He was voiced by John Fiedler.
11. bear

Answer: Little John

Voiced by the deep baritone voice of Phil Harris, Little John is Robin's loyal sidekick. For such a fat bear, he is very agile and very attractive when in disguise, especially when he's dressed as a gypsy woman. He's a genuinely nice guy, fun and lovable.
12. dog

Answer: Otto

J. Pat O'Malley voiced Otto, the hound dog blacksmith, in "Robin Hood". He has a cast on his right leg and uses a crutch to get around Nottingham. Due to his injury, he is unable to keep up with his work, falls behind in his taxes and placed in debtors' prison.
13. vixen (female fox)

Answer: Maid Marian

Lovely Maid Marian, the niece of Prince John and King Richard, is devoted to her childhood sweetheart Robin Hood. They are worlds apart in social status but still determined that true love will prevail. They indeed are wed at the end of the movie. Her character was voiced by Monica Evans (speaking parts) and by Nancy Adams (singing parts).
14. rabbit

Answer: Skippy

Skippy is an adorable seven-year old bunny rabbit voiced by Billy Whittaker. He is a huge fan of Robin Hood and is elated when he receives a birthday gift from his hero. He receives Robin's hat plus a bow and arrows when the gift he receives from his family is confiscated by the Sheriff of Nottingham.
15. snake

Answer: Sir Hiss

Loyal advisor to Prince John, Sir Hiss the snake, is smarter than his foolish boss. He often becomes the target of Prince John's temper tantrums. Hiss, although a villain, shows true distress when Prince John decides to hang Friar Tuck. His character was voiced by Terry Thomas.
