Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the infamous fruit that causes Amy much trouble in school?

Answer: Lime

Amy is withdrawn from school and home-schooled by Jo after an incident with the limes. At her school the popular thing to do is trade limes for beads and things; however, her teacher throws hers in the snow since she is caught with them in class. Amy even says, "All those beautiful limes".
2. Where does Meg get the pair of shoes that she wears to the party she attends with Jo?

Answer: Rag bag

Meg is the sister played by Trini Alvarado. She is very prim and proper when it comes to courting and being part of society functions. As for the tragic shoes, Amy finds them in the rag bag and gives them to Meg while Jo is curling Meg's hair with the curling iron. Meg even asks "Do you think anyone will notice that they came out of the rag bag?" This statement is particularly important since the March family was once a part of society. Because of the war they are now poor. For the March family, new shoes are not a luxury they can afford to squander money upon.
3. When Laurie is inducted into the March girls' theatrical society, what is his role?

Answer: Rodrigo

The Countess of Montenesque is the part that Beth plays because it has no lines; however, she offers it to Amy when she complains about playing the role of a male. Mr. Tutman is the name Beth is given in the Pickwick Society and Mr. Winkle is the name Amy is given. Mr. Snodgrass is the name Jo is given in the Pickwick Society. Rodrigo is the character that Amy is complaining about playing, which Laurie then portrays as part of his induction into their theatrical society.
4. The night that Mr. Lawrence gives Beth the piano, where does Amy hide the box of bows used for decorating the house for Christmas?

Answer: Under Great Aunt March's dress

In a hurry to hide the box before Beth makes her way down the stairs, Amy stashes the box under Great Aunt March's skirt. Great Aunt March looks very confused about the whole idea.
5. What river is mentioned in the letter that Mr. March sends home while he is at war?

Answer: Potomac River

The river mentioned is the Potomac. This is the word that Amy stumbles upon when she is reading the letter; from here Marmie takes over the reading.
6. What is the name of the hospital that father is at when they find out that he has been wounded in the war?

Answer: Washington Hospital

Marmie mentions that she has received a telegram from Washington Hospital, saying that their father has been wounded. She tells this news to Jo and Meg; they all begin to cry.
7. Who says "Blast this stove"?

Answer: Amy March

Amy is taking potatoes out of the oven when one falls out onto the floor. Before picking it up off of the floor her response is "blast this stove".
8. What is Frederick Bhaer's profession now that he is in the United States?

Answer: Tutor

Back in Germany Frederick had been a professor of philosophy, but in the United States he is a mere tutor. He says this himself in the scene where Jo's manuscript is drying in front of the fire. When talking about it, he is bringing Jo her coffee.
9. What word that Jo uses does Meg consider to be slang?

Answer: Awful

When in the attic dressed as men, the girls look out the window and discuss Laurie. Jo uses the word "awful" and Meg tells her that she must not use that word because it is slang.
10. What is the name of Meg and John's daughter?

Answer: Daisy

Their daughter's name is Daisy. Jo refers to her name just before answering the door to find out that Laurie has married her sister Amy while they were studying in France.
