Humphrey mistakenly thinks Katie is attracted to him, but she lets him know in no uncertain terms she finds him "a pompous windbag." G.W. refers to the Governor as "a cull ... a specimen that is so worthless you have to cut him out of the herd."

Theodore Childress "Chill" Wills was a veteran character actor in many Westerns. He co-starred with John Wayne in "The Alamo" and was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of the character Beekeeper. He was also the voice of Francis, the Talking Mule in several comedies featuring that humorous character.

Drago and G.W. are partners in the cattle business, and Drago is an integral part of the family. He oversees the running of the household and watches out for G.W. in Katie's absence.

Drago has McLintock try one of her biscuits to convince him to hire Mrs. Warren to be their cook. Ching, their Chinese cook, is not happy about being replaced.

John Wayne's son Patrick got his start in movies at the age of 11 with a small part in "Rio Grande," for which he was paid the princely sum of $10. He appeared in over 40 movies during his film career, 9 of them with his famous father.

The Duke's oldest son Michael produced "McLintock!", and his youngest son Ethan played his grandson in "Big Jake".

Patrick Wayne and Christopher Mitchum, son of Robert Mitchum, co-starred in "Big Jake", playing Wayne's adult sons.

Junior, played by Jerry Van Dyke, brought his banjo, and he and Becky sing a duet. Although none of the men like Junior, Becky appears to be taken with him. In another scene when Dev refers to Junior as a "dude," she exclaims, "He's nifty!"

Dev is so distracted trying to keep his eye on Becky and Junior, he keeps making mistakes. G.W. is disgusted and tells Dev, "You're playing like an amateur."

Puma and G.W. had been enemies in a battle between white settlers and Comanches. Katie remembers Puma dumping a badly wounded McLintock at their door. When Puma returns to the town of McLintock in custody, he speaks with G.W., calling him "honored enemy" and "blood brother". He respects McLintock and asks him to speak on the Comanches' behalf at the government hearing to decide their fate.

Running Buffalo is the elder Comanche who keeps asking, "Where's the whiskey?" in the clay slide scene. Tiny Mouth is the woman who swats Matt Douglas, Sr., on his behind.

Vittorio is Wayne's adversary in "Hondo". Actor Michael Pate plays both Puma and Vittorio.

Throughout the film, Drago rides G.W. about his excessive drinking. In this scene, McLintock is on a bender and so impaired he can't negotiate the stairs without losing his balance and tumbling to the bottom. After three failed attempts, he has had enough of stairs for one night and decides to sleep downstairs.

The next day he's back at it, drinking beer at the Fourth of July festivities.

Louise Warren is gracious in handling criticism from Ching, the former cook, and Katie's snobbery. When Sheriff Lord proposes to her, she accepts and attempts to give G.W. notice that she is quitting. He invites her to have a drink with him, and comedy ensues as they both become tipsy.

She enjoys the many Fourth of July festivities in McLintock. The activities that day culminate in a chase scene and spanking that ultimately end with her and G.W.'s reconciliation.

Katie criticizes his crude expression, so he then says "Let us open the discussion." It leads to an inevitable argument over their daughter.

Katie is rather snobbish toward Louise Warren while she is McLintock's cook. She repeatedly addresses her by the wrong name and demands she serve her breakfast in bed each morning. Louise sees through Katie's tough act and ultimately has her revenge by telling G.W. where Katie is hiding.

Poor Curly looks sick after swallowing the egg because when Drago passed out the eggs to the participants before the race, he cautioned that some of them were "last year's holdovers". Curly washes it down with a mug of beer someone hands him.

Dev says this when he drives Junior Douglas and Becky back to town after their date. Becky tells her father that Dev "slandered her honor" and demands G.W. shoot Dev. He shocks her by complying, shooting Dev with a blank from the gun used to start the Fourth of July race.
