Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Watson, come here!" For 14 films released between 1939 and 1946, Nigel Bruce acted alongside which famous British stage and screen actor?

Answer: Basil Rathbone

Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce portrayed Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, respectively, in 14 films beginning with 1939's "The Hound of the Baskervilles". Rathbone began his acting career on stage, before moving to film. He also continued his stage career, earning a Tony award after WWII. He has three stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
2. How much attention did you really pay? In "The Green Mile", what is the surname of the prison guard named Harry?

Answer: Terwilliger

In the beginning of the movie, when the narrator gives each guard's name as they are introduced, we find Harry's full name is Harry Terwilliger. The role of Harry was played by Jeffrey DeMunn.
3. Gizmo, the cute and cuddly character from "Gremlins", was voiced by which popular, and odd, gameshow host?

Answer: Howie Mandel

Gizmo is the lovable, good Mogwai who kills off the gremlins and their leader. Howie Mandel is the host of "Deal or No Deal", and various TV roles. His oddity surrounds being obsessive-compulsive about germs, which is why he is often seen wearing a glove - and only one glove.
4. "The Jazz Singer" is to sound as ____ is to color.

Answer: Cupid Angling

Just as "The Jazz Singer" is the first feature-length movie with sound, "Cupid Angling", filmed in 1918, is the first feature length movie to be shot in color. The first movie that can be seen in color was from 1901 and can be found at the National Media Museum in England.
5. In 1993's "Jurassic Park", what were Muldoon's (the wildlife hunter and tracker) last words before being killed by the velociraptor near the end of the movie?

Answer: "Clever girl."

"Clever girl" is directed at the velociraptor that comes out of the trees while Muldoon is setting his trap for them. He says the line because the two velociraptors had just sprung their own trap for Muldoon.
6. Of the following movies, which one focuses on a reporter's investigation (and subsequent escape from South Africa) into the death of Steve Biko, an anti-apartheid activist?

Answer: Cry Freedom

The movie, starring Kevin Kline and Denzel Washington, followed the investigation into anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko at the hands of South African police. Filmed in Zimbabwe and Kenya, the film was not released in South Africa.
7. Irony, maybe? Which horribly received movie opens with John Travolta talking about how Hollywood has made a lot of horrible movies? It also stars Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman.

Answer: Swordfish

"Swordfish" (2001) received poor reviews from critics and marginally better reviews from viewers, making Travolta's opening monologue quite ironic. The movie's plot revolved around a supposed anti-terrorist organization that stops at nothing to retaliate after terrorist attacks.
8. Double take: Barry Fitzgerald was nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor for the same performance in which movie? What luck!

Answer: Going My Way

Barry Fitzgerald, who plays Father Fitzgibbon in the movie, is the one and only actor to be so nominated, in 1944. The Academy changed the rules so as to prevent such double nominations from occurring again. The movie focuses on a failing church and the priest trying to save it.
9. Which actor was cast only two days before filming began for the 1995 movie "Seven", as well as left out of the opening credits?

Answer: Kevin Spacey

To help hide the identity of the killer, when the movie was first released, Kevin Spacey's name was left out of the opening credits. He was listed twice during the closing credits, however.
10. There's definitely no typecasting here. Which renowned and versatile actor starred as the obsessed, creepy photo tech Seymour Parrish in the movie "One Hour Photo"?

Answer: Robin Williams

Robin Williams' character is a very lonely man who becomes obsessed with the family photographs he routinely develops. As the movie progresses, his character becomes more and more detached from reality, until he believes he really is part of the family.
