'Forrest Gump' premiered in July, 1994. Tom Hanks starred as a simple-minded but good-hearted southern man who joyfully told about his stardom as a football player after recovering from a leg injury. He also met many famous people along the way, such as Elvis Presley, John Lennon and Presidents Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon. Forrest was also a Vietnam War hero, ping pong champion and shrimp tycoon.

He reunited with his longtime girlfriend Jenny and they got married. Sadly, Jenny died near the end of the movie and then Forrest went on to share his life with their son, Forrest Jr.

'Dumb and Dumber' was released in December, 1994. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels starred as Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne, two not-so-bright Rhode Islanders who took a cross-country trip to Colorado after limousine driver Lloyd drove Mary Swanson to the airport and noticed that she dropped a suitcase. Eventually they returned the case with the ransom money Mary left in exchange for her kidnapped husband, Bobby, and had a few adventures and mishaps on the way, including apprehending the kidnappers.

'Speed' was released in June, 1994. The movie was about a former police officer who bombed a Los Angles bus and threatened to kill the passengers if he didn't receive money he believed was owed to him by the LAPD. Stephen Baldwin was originally cast as L.A. policeman Jack Traven.

He turned the role down in fear of typecasting. Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks , Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp, among others, were also offered the role but declined for various reasons. Reeves also appeared in such movies as 'Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure' and 'Point Break'.

'Pulp Fiction' was released in October, 1994. John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson were hit men Vincent and Jules, who worked for Marsellus Wallace. Bruce Willis starred as boxer Butch Coolidge, who crossed Wallace when he didn't lose a fight that he staged. Uma Thurman starred as Mia Wallace, Marsellus's wife.

When Vincent went over to Butch's house to kill him for disobeying Wallace, Butch ended up shooting him with his gun, then ran over Wallace with his car. Wallace survived the incident and took revenge on Butch.

However, they both agreed to call a truce with Butch leaving town for good.

'The Lion King' premiered in June, 1994. It starred Robert Guillaume and Jonathan Taylor Thomas. The movie was set in the Pride Lands in Kenya and centered around the relationship of a mandrill king named Rafiki and the newborn cub Simba. There, Rafiki teaches Simba about the circle of life in the Pride Lands. 'The Lion King' won a Golden Globe Award for best Motion Picture and was the top grossing film in 1994, earning over $700,000,000.

'The Mask' premiered in July, 1994. this was Cameron Diaz's acting debut. It was based on the Dark Horse comic and starred Carrey as a hapless bank clerk who sought revenge on his tormentors after finding a green wooden mask that transformed him into a wacky trickster. Cameron Diaz starred as a young singer turned bank robber who had an affair with Carrey's character.

'Interview With the Vampire' was released in November, 1994. Christian Slater played a reporter who interviewed a 200 year old vampire (Brad Pitt) who told a story of how another vampire (Tom Cruise) gave him a chance of a new life. Kirsten Dunst made her acting debut in this film as a young vampire who learnt the ins and outs of her fate.

'True Lies' was released in July, 1994. It also starred Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Arnold and Tia Carrere. It told the story of a man leading a double life with one interfering with the other. The film was one of the most expensive ever made, costing between $110,000,000 and $120,000,000.

'The Santa Clause' was released in America in November, 1994. Tim Allen starred as a divorced father who filled in for a Santa Claus who was missing in action. Allen starred on 'Home Improvement' as Tim 'The Tool Man' Taylor from 1991 to 1999. He also appeared in other major films, such as 'Toy Story' and 'Galaxy Quest'.
