"Eastern Promises" was an extremely violent movie, directed by David Cronenberg. Viggo Mortensen played the part of Nikolai, who was the driver and "cleaner" for Semyon and his son Kirill. They were part of a brutal, criminal, Russian brotherhood. Nikolai's loyalties became divided when the midwife, who was half Russian herself, read the girl's diary and wanted to track down the girl's family, to inform them of her death.

Andy Garcia starred as the father and therapist who eventually discovered that the reason his son committed suicide, was because he was being sexually abused by his tutor. The tutor was a personal friend of the therapist, which was the ultimate betrayal.
The boy with the troubled past, whom he was treating, had seen his mother being beaten to death by his father. The boy's father had come home early one day to find half empty wine glasses. His wife appeared in her negligee and he thought that he was going to catch her with another man, but it was his eight year old son.

"Mr Brooks", played by Kevin Costner, was addicted to serial killing. He had an alter ego, Marshall, played by William Hurt, who was the emotional one and Brooks who was the cold and rational one. Someone saw Brooks last killing spree and blackmailed him into showing him the ropes. There followed some great exchanges between Brooks and Marshall.

Denzel Washington played the part of the investigating agent, Doug Carlin. The agent fell in love with the mysterious woman and wanted to find out what happened to her. Doug went back in time to try and change destiny but he was also dealing with a deadly, religious assassin and time was running out.

"Kingdom of Heaven" was directed by Tony Scott and was an authentic look into the past. Orlando Bloom played the part of Balian, who was a blacksmith. He was approached by Godfrey of Ibelin, who told him that he was his father. Balian went with Godfrey to the Holy Lands and discovered that his father was a very important man, with lands and property. Godfrey died after being hit with an arrow and Balian became the new lord. Balian went on to save the people of Jerusalem from the great Saladin.

"Walking Tall" starred The Rock or Dwayne Johnson. It was action packed as the big man took on the sheriff and the casino. He ended up getting seriously hurt himself and they eventually came after his family. But The Rock, being The Rock, broke up the casino with a strong club of wood and good overcame evil.

"Gladiator" was the movie and Russell Crowe played the part of Maximus Decimus Meridias. Emperor Marcus Aurelius was murdered by his twisted, jealous son Commodus. It was Commodus who gave the orders for the death of Maximus' wife and son. Maximus won the crowd in the Colisseum and turned the tables on Commodus but Commodus, who was evil to the core, injured Maximus before they were to have their inevitable duel. Maximus died but it was what he wanted, to again be with his wife and son.

"American Gangster" was based on the true story of an exceptionally successful drug dealer in the early seventie's. Denzel Washington played the part of Frank Lucas and the movie was directed by the great Ridley Scott. Frank had cornered the market on drugs in the neighbourhood, but kept a very low profile.

His only nemesis was an honest cop, called Richie Roberts, played by Russell Crowe. The cop was determined to bring him in but didn't know what he looked like. Frank had always had a code of dressing down and being inconspicuous but forfeited this code for his wife on the night of the Mohammed Ali versus Joe Frazier fight.

He wore an extremely loud fur coat and hat, Roberts spotted him and the game was over.

"King Arthur", played by Clive Owen, was directed by the brilliant Antoine Fuqua. After Arthur and his cavalry were given this one last mission, they were promised their release papers. There followed a brutal battle with the Saxons and an impressively shot piece, where the Saxons were on one side of a frozen river and the Sarmation Knights were on the other. One of King Arthur's men broke the ice with his axe and lots of Saxons disappeared under the ice.

The final battle was incredible when Merlin, his Woads and, of course, Guinivere joined in the fray.

Detective John Hobbes was played by Denzel Washington. When more killings started up again, in the same style of the serial killer, Hobbes began to realise that there was something afoot. The serial killer had been taken over by the presence of a cursed fallen angel, called Azazel.

This evil spirit could jump from person to person and Hobbes realised he was going to have to take drastic action to rid himself of this nightmare.
