Answer: Are You Randy?

According to Norah, this isn't the first time Are You Randy? has pulled this kind of a stunt. Once everyone knew that Where's Fluffy? wasn't playing everyone leaves as fast as they can. The only person left is one guy who is legitimately excited for Are You Randy? and he proceeds to take his shirt off and rock out in a freestyle Ska fashion that is not frequently seen any more...with good reason.

The front man of the band is also seen many times throughout the movie, specifically at the first bar making out with Caroline and then again at the actual Where's Fluffy? concert.

Answer: Gray's Papaya

As Thom calls Nick to break the bad news that they lost Caroline, he is standing in front of Gray's Papaya, which is a well-known hot dog joint that has four locations on the West Side of Manhattan that are open 24 hours.

Electric Lady Studios is a real recording studio and it is located in Greenwich Village at 52 West 8th Street. Norah is quite visibly flabbergasted by the album cover art and the title of the band itself, as Tal describes it by saying that they "bring the Jew fire". The album is shown briefly and includes an enormous Star of David, surrounded in flames, and the three band members standing in the foreground. After seeing the clever cover art Nick creates for one of his "Closure" CDs for Tris, even a novice can see how awful their CD looks.

The Yugo was first designed and popularized in the late 1970s, but was heavily criticized for its Fiat technology. Also, like the Pinto, it was discovered too late that the car's weight simply could not hold up to natural weather events; in one unfortunate example, a woman, in 1989, was driving in her 1987 Yugo across the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan when it was blown over a 36" protective guardrail by a 50 mph gust of wind. This tragedy was widely publicized and the Yugo was never able to recover from the damaging publicity.

When Caroline sees that Nick is coming onstage to fetch her so that they can leave, she refers to him as "Yugo" and thinks he has come to rescue her. Throughout the whole film, Caroline never once refers to Nick by his actual name, but instead calls him Yugo or Super Cuts (because of his presumably cheap and overly 'heterosexual' haircut).

Norah and Caroline first meet Nick and his band after they play a show in New York City; this was their first stop in the city on their search for Where's Fluffy?. Even though Caroline promises Norah she will not get drunk and leave her, while at the bar, a heavily intoxicated Caroline is seen making out with Randy of Are You Randy?, and she is seen biting his gum while kissing him, stretching it between them, and then taking it altogether.

This piece of gum goes on a wild ride throughout the evening, as she later gives it to Norah, who gives it to Nick, who eventually spits it out and hits Randy in the head at the Where's Fluffy? show.

They travel to the Bowery Ballroom after a drunk couple jump into Nick's Yugo, mistaking it for a cab. When they arrive, Norah goes to the bathroom and gets a clue in the stall that Where's Fluffy? is playing at Brooklyn (BK) Pool, so rather than continue their search for Caroline they head to Brooklyn. Later in the evening they get a clue that Caroline is with an "altar-boy with no pants on" and Thom leads them to the all-male gay review at Camera Obscura, where they finally find Caroline.

The funniest thing about this scene is that, like many films that take place in real time and in real places, the film wasn't able to shut down the entrance to the station during filming. In the outtakes on the DVD release, there is a clip of this scene where they are literally pushed out of the way and verbally chastised by a real New Yorker, irritated that they were taking up the entire escalator when he was obviously trying to use it.

Norah makes a joke about this early in the film, as they choose to use a children's drum machine for their first gig, just to have some drum noise present. Of course this leads to Nick being embarrassed when he cannot figure out how to turn the machine off and he is left onstage, being booed by the audience until Thom kicks the cord to unplug it.
