As it turned out he was the "Angel of Death" who had arrived to help a small gold mining community fight against a ruthless tycoon who wanted all the gold for himself.

"American Gangster" was a surprising role for Denzel Washington to play, as in most of the films I have seen him in, he played such a good guy. He plays the part of Frank Lucas, an organised crime boss, who became the biggest distributor of heroin in the Harlem district of Manhattan. The film also stars Russell Crowe as the detective, who eventually gets his man.

This movie is set in a small town in Indiana and the main character, Tom Stall, appears to be a mild mannered shop owner. At the end of the film, when the detective kills the crook, he realises that he had more in common with him than he had ever had with any of his wives.
