Answer: Reality Bites

American romantic comedy drama "Reality Bites" (1994), directed by Ben Stiller, charts four friends as they negotiate post-college life through their career and lifestyle choices. Troy Dyer came across his flatmate Lelaina making out with TV exec Michael in a car.

The quote comes up after he waits up for her to return. The part of Troy is played by Ethan Hawke, who also contributed a song to the soundtrack. He plays opposite Winona Ryder as Lelaina Pierce.
2. 'If you shoot this man, you die next. Repeat. If you shoot this man, you die next.'

Answer: Reservoir Dogs

The 1992 film "Reservoir Dogs" was written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. This quote comes at the end of the film where a jewellery robbery has gone wrong. Accusations fly and it escalates to a Mexican standoff. Mr. White, played by Harvey Keitel, makes the quote.

When he came across the script, Harvey Keitel leant his name to help with raising the finance. This was Tarantino's first feature-length film.
3. 'The full time observation of David Larabee is not a recognized profession. Get out of that tree.'

Answer: Sabrina

Sabrina's father catches her spying on a Larrabee party in this 1995 remake of Billy Wilder's 1954 film, which starred Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart. Harrison Ford plays the part of the elder brother Linus, played by Humphrey Bogart in the 1954 film. Julia Ormond plays the role of Sabrina, the Hepburn role in 1954.
4. 'Well, whatever you do, however terrible, however hurtful, it all makes sense doesn't it, in your head. You never meet anybody that thinks they're a bad person.'

Answer: The Talented Mr. Ripley

Based on the 1955 book by Patricia Highsmith of the same name, Tom Ripley (played by Matt Damon) is the protagonist of this 1999 American psychological thriller. He is paid to go to Italy to persuade his employer's son to return to the United States. The quote is made by Ripley in answer to Peter Smith-Kingsley's musing on how Dickie feels as a murderer. Tom was in fact the murderer and his answer is an insight into his own morality.
5. 'I can't play Pooh to your Christopher Robin.'

Answer: Beautiful Girls

A high school reunion draws the characters back to their hometown for this 1996 American romantic comedy. They spend their time examining their relationships. New York musician Timothy Hutton as Willie Conway strikes up a witty rapport with Marty, the 13-year-old girl next door (played by Natalie Portman), referencing Winnie the Pooh. Pooh tends to crop up whenever they meet.
6. 'There is no spoon.'

Answer: The Matrix

First of the "Matrix" movies, the 1999 film saw Neo (played by Keanu Reeves) come into his powers. The scene occurs in the moments before Neo meets with the Oracle. Neo's attention is drawn to the boy with monk-like appearance who appears to be bending a spoon with his mind.

In a philosophical moment, the boy observes: "Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth... There is no spoon... Then you'll see that it is not the spoon that bends; it is only yourself." Neo then does the same.
7. 'The things you own end up owning you.'

Answer: Fight Club

In "Fight Club" (1999) the Narrator (played by Edward Norton) is in conversation with Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) discussing his loss of some property. At the end, Durden sums it with the quote. It is construed by some as anti-consumerist. This is one of many themes facing this generation of young men that are explored by the film.
8. 'I loved a writer and gave up the prize for a sonnet.'

Answer: Shakespeare in Love

In "Shakespeare in Love" (1998), this scene has Viola (played by Gwyneth Paltrow) speaking to Shakespeare (acted by Joseph Fiennes). Shakespeare has just said he is married and cannot marry the daughter of Sir Robert De Lesseps, asking why she slept with him.

She replies, "Calf-love," and then the quote. The story portrays a complicated situation and, it seems, inspires Shakespeare to write "Romeo and Juliet" and "Twelfth Night".
9. 'A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky animals.'

Tommy Lee Jones as Agent K in the 1997 sci-fi film "Men in Black" is in the final stages of his recruitment pitch.
