Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of Bill's daughter?

Answer: Emily

Emily wants to be an astronomer, which is something her dad greatly disapproves of. She wants to go on a trip with her Astronomy club to Mexico, however her dad is unable to help her financially since he is unemployed at the start of the movie.
2. When Bill is explaining the term "Oxymoron," he has to use which example to finally make the Double D's understand what it means?

Answer: Girly Man

Bill noticed that as he was explaining the term, the Double D's had no idea what he was talking about, so he used something they could understand. He also had to explain the words "Simile" and "Metaphor" to them.
3. What is Fort McClane's motto?

Answer: Victory Starts Here

Captain Murdoch tells Bill that this is the fort's motto when they are driving to Bill's quarters, and it's also posted at the main gate.
4. What did Bill say his daughter could do to make a couple of bucks?

Answer: Astrology

He was making fun of her at a baseball game, and when Emily showed that she was not amused, Bill tried to make it up to her by buying her a frozen malt.
5. Haywood played what part in their Hamlet readings?

Answer: The King

Montgomery was disappointed that he was not assigned the role of 'the King'. He got to read for 'the Ghost' (Hamlet's dead father).
6. Why did Hobbs say he joined the Army?

Answer: He wanted to learn a new trade

We find this out when Bill has the Double D's write their papers for him. Montgomory said he was the only guy in the Army who joined so that he would know when to eat lunch, Miranda had nowhere else to go, and Haywood wanted to see more of the world.
7. How many Double D's are there at the start of the movie?

Answer: Eight

Miranda Myers, Roosevelt Hobbs, Jamall Montgomery, Jackson Leroy, Brian Davis Jr., Donald Benitez, Tommy Lee Haywood and Melvin Melvin. Later in the movie, Hobbs is arrested because he had sold crack before joining the military. He thought he could hide out in the Army by changing his name from 'Nathaniel Hobbs' to 'Roosevelt Hobbs'.
8. "Hamlet's mama, she's the Queen. Buys it in the final scene. Drinks a glass of funky wine. Now she's __________________."

Answer: Satan's Valentine

Bill made this up for the Double D's. Sgt. Cass (Gregory Hines) uses it at the end of the movie when the new recruits are registering.
9. Bill had won a teaching award before the Army hired him.

Answer: False

It was an advertising award. He had never taught before being offered the job at Fort McClane.
10. When Benitez was reading his Archie Comic, what word was he having trouble with?

Answer: Shoppe

"Hang on Mr. Rago, maybe you can help me with this: 'Come on Archie, lets go to the Malt Shop-ee.' What the hell is a Malt Shop-ee? You guys know?"
