Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The ending is: "It's a fake."

Answer: The Maltese Falcon

"The Mask" is about a mask that really has the power to turn the wearer into a living cartoon, "The Jewel of the Nile" is actually a holy man and "The Red Violin" is a antique work of art that gets switched with a fake, but only at the last minute. The Maltese Falcon is actually made of lead.
2. The ending is: "The gimp did it."

Answer: The Usual Suspects

"The Goonies" are a bunch of kids who stumble onto a treasure ship, along the way they encounter a man-child named "Sloth" chained in a room. He's not crippled, just slow. "Pulp Fiction" does have a character named "the gimp" who is chained in a room, but he doesn't do anything. "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is about a crazed maniac who kills people, also not a cripple.

In "The Usual Suspects" the character who walks with a limp and says he didn't do anything is actually perfectly healthy and has been faking everybody out the whole time.
3. "Nobody dies." (In the whole movie not just the end).

Answer: April Fool's Day

The main character dies in "The Shining" and in "Peeping Tom." In "The Sting" the whole reason behind the sting is because a grifter gets killed by a mob boss and his friend seeks revenge. In "April Fool's Day" the body count is high when friends are lured to an island mansion, but it turns out to be all just a gag. April Fools!
4. "Yep, it's aliens."

Answer: Signs

"The Planet of the Apes" (1968) is actually Earth, so no aliens there. "Frailty" is about a guy who can see demons, not aliens. "Signs" is about crop circles made by, yep, aliens.
5. "The girl did it."

Answer: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

"The Gift" is about a psychic who discovers that the husband of a dead girl is the murderer. "Wisdom" is about a guy who daydreams of being a bank robber/public benefactor (by destroying foreclosure documents) and then decides not to go through with it when his dream ends in death. "Deathtrap" is about, among other things, two gay lovers plotting the death of the wife of one of them.

In "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" the con men are outsmarted by a woman they thought they could dupe.
6. "It's a copycat."

Answer: Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning

"Memento" is about a guy with short-term memory loss who leaves himself a reminder to kill the wrong guy. "Primal Fear" is about a lawyer who defends a nice guy he thinks has an evil alter-ego that turns out to be an act (he's actually an evil guy pretending to be nice). "Arlington Road" is about a terrorist who moves next door to a professor of terrorism.

The teacher thinks he gets the drop on the bad guy, but instead unknowingly drives the bomb to its target himself. "Friday the 13th Part V: The New Beginning" doesn't actually feature Jason Voorhees, the star of the franchise, but an ambulance driver who went nuts upon seeing a member of his own family killed.
7. "It's an imaginary friend."

Answer: Fight Club

"Psycho" is about a reclusive motel owner who kills people while pretending to be his mother and even though he says "A boy's best friend is his mother" she's not imaginary, just dead. "Jacob's Ladder" is about a soldier who was experimented on with drugs by the military and he dreams of what his life would have been like after the war if he'd lived (which he doesn't). "Rosemary's Baby" is about a woman who dreams she was raped and impregnated by the devil and sure enough, she was. "Fight Club" is about an insomniatic office worker who invents an alter-ego to give some meaning to his life.
8. "He faked his own death."

Answer: F/X

"Hoffa" is about labor leader Jimmy Hoffa who disappeared in 1975. In this film he's assassinated. "Final Analysis" is about a psychiatrist who tries to help a patient who actually has been playing him the whole time. She dies. "The Bonfire of the Vanities" is about a rich man who gets blamed for a hit and run when it was his mistress driving the car.

He winds up proving she did it. "F/X" is about a special effects expert hired to fake a murder only to be framed for it. He turns the tables on the bad guys and fakes his own death to get away with the loot.

He fools everyone except the cop and so they split the money.
9. "She's not dead."

Answer: Laura

"Rebecca" is about a rich widower who remarries and the new wife is haunted by the memory of the old (Rebecca is the dead wife). "Christine" is a possessed car. "Birdy" is a guy who loves birds. "Laura" is a mystery about a dead woman named "Laura" who, it turns out, is still alive.
10. "He's a spy."

Answer: No Way Out (1987)

"Impostor" is about a scientist who is accused of being a bomb, which he in fact is. "Contact" is about a message from outer space that describes the designs of a machine, which actually works. "The Man Who Wasn't There" is about a barber who kills his wife's lover in self-defense and then lets her go to trial for it. "No Way Out" is about a guy who finds his mistress dead and is assigned to find the killer who may or may not be a secret agent.

While he didn't kill her (the guy who assigned him the case did, also having an affair with her), he is in fact a Russian spy, as chance would have it.
