Sophie was a young girl who hoped to one day learn who her father was. She told a couple of her friends she planned on locating him. The idea she had in mind was inviting three men who could very well be her dad to attend her wedding, since it was tradition that the father gives his daughter away at her nuptials. Sophie was played by Amanda Seyfried, who portrayed Joni Stafford on the ABC soap opera, "All My Children", from 2002 to 2003.

Sophie rowed over to the mainland on the island where she lived in order to mail three wedding invitations. The recipients were three men that resided all over the world who she suspected might be her father. You can hear the tune titled "I Have a Dream" as she did all this.

Early in the film, Donna went to meet two of her friends, Rosie and Tanya, as they came to the island where she lived, via a boat. When they got into her car to go back to her home, Tanya mentioned how Rosie had written a bestseller book. We then found out that Donna's job involved both managing and owning the villa on the island.

Answer: She had no blood relation to Sophie.

Donna got back to her home with Rosie and Tanya and Sophie saw all three of the women. She screamed out "Auntie Rosie!" once she saw Rosie but the title was an honorary one, since Rosie shared no blood relation to Sophie. Rosie mentioned to Sophie how gorgeous she looked.

Near the beginning of the movie, Donna was talking with her two friends, Rosie and Tanya, and the two of them were also singing. While they were doing both, Donna's last name was mentioned as being Sheridan.

Midway through the film, Rosie and Tanya started singing the song, "Dancing Queen", getting Donna into a spirited mood. The three women left the villa and ventured out towards the dock, singing all the way, which attracted many other island inhabitants. This musical number went on for a couple of minutes.

Early on in the movie, it was established that Sophie was in a relationship with Sky and things got real serious since they planned on marrying. There was one scene in which Sky entered Sophie's room to get some things for his bachelor party. At the end of the movie, they decided to not rush their wedding and, in place of getting married, went on vacation.

However, Donna and Sam did marry during the movie's final scenes.

There was a brief mention near the film's beginning of the band's name, when the three ladies spoke of how much fun they'd had singing years back as Donna and the Dynamos. Midway through the film, the three ladies got on the P.A. system at a gathering and stated they would be singing again. They claimed this would be for only one night.

Sophie went to be alone and she saw Sam standing alone as well, so the two spoke. In the conversation, Sam claimed he wanted to try and explain to Donna how he came in peace. Sam asked Sophie what he was doing there on the island but Sophie did not answer him.

At Sophie's big party, she had a brief interaction with Harry and asked him if he had any children of his own. Harry stated that the closest he could come to kids was two dogs named Lucy and Kipper. Shortly afterwards, Sophie went to speak with Bill.
