This was at the bottom of the screen in the very first scene in the movie. You had to really pay attention to remember the name. Little Deloris was so cute and such a little stinker.

Vince is such a pig. Deloris wants him to divorce Connie so that they can be together. Vince says he talked to a priest about divorcing his wife, but the priest tells him that he will get ex-communticated and burn in Hell. I don't know why he is worried because he is a criminal and has murdered people. He is already on the fast track to Hell.

When they are backstage Deloris is telling them that she is quitting and Tina thinks it's because of Vince not leaving his wife, but Deloris tells them that she's quitting for a lot of reasons and it's something that she has to do.

Vince asks him how long had he been there had he told him that he had been there three years. Two as a croupier and one as his personal limo driver.

He tells her this more than once. He tells her at the police station when she is there telling him about seeing Ernie get shot, and then after they arrive at the convent when he tells her that she is staying there, and then lastly when they are in the office of the Reverend Mother as he is leaving.

Reverend Mother names off the three vows and when she gets to the vow of chastity, Deloris tries to leave but Reverend Mother stops her. Deloris: "Oh, man". She really doesn't like the chastity vow does she?

This is one of my favorite scenes. She and Reverend Mother did not like each other in the beginning and Deloris gave her a hard time. I couldn't help but laugh when she said that line.

Deloris is shown doing all these things and the only one that she seemed to like was washing the car. She was dancing and singing along with "Rescue Me". Reverend Mother tapped on the window and scolded her. Deloris just smiled at her. I like the part when Deloris sits down and pets the dog.

Cute, sweet, quiet Mary Robert comes in to Deloris's room. "I-I-I brought you something. My brother gave it to me when I was a little girl. I could never seem to get up on time. I set it for five".
The little alarm clock goes off: "Out of bed you daisy head, out of bed you daisy head".
They both laugh.
I love Mary Robert, I thought she was so sweet and cute.

This scene is so funny. Deloris sees them and gets upset. She tells them that she is there to see a man about a car for the convent. Then Mary Patrick sees a jukebox and has to dance around with everyone. Deloris finally is able to grab them and leave. When they get back to the convent, Reverend Mother is not happy at all.

Deloris goes to the choir rehearsal and Mary Lazarus asks her if she's alto or soprano and Deloris tells her whatever. Mary Lazarus hands her a book and she stands with the other sisters. They begin singing, but Deloris just stands there with a disgusted look on her face and doesn't sing. Mary Lazarus gets upset so Deloris sits it out. Mary Robert tells Mary Patrick that Deloris has a background in music. All the other sisters are happy about this. Deloris becomes the new choir mistress.

Actually, the real-life director, or vocal coach and contractor for the choir nuns, was one of the actresses that played a choir nun. Her name is Darlene Koldenhoven. She was the tall one that was on the top right hand corner with the choir nuns on the stage. She played the tambourine and never had a solo part in any of the songs. She never even had any speaking lines.
She is a Grammy award winner. She has three Christian albums; "Heavenly Peace", "Free to Serve", and "Keys to the World". She has a five octave range voice. She is really pretty. She is tall and blond.

You have to really look close and fast to catch the amount on the voucher. We discover that Tate is the leak in the department when he calls Vince and tells him where Deloris is. He is taken away and locked up.

This scene is so funny. The sisters are talking to the pilot. The pilot tells them that it's $1500 to fly them to Reno and Mary Patrick tells him that they don't have $1500. He tells them that he can't fly them there and then he apologizes. The sisters begin to gang up on him and making him feel guilty by praying to God about the pilot not helping them out when they need him and for God not to help him when he asks for it.

The pilot gives in and flies them there for free. It was so cute seeing the sisters gang up on the poor pilot.

Answer: Deloris is in a nun's habit and they don't feel right shooting her.

Willy and Joey may have been murderers but at least they had an ounce of dignity. They couldn't shoot Deloris because she was in a nun's habit and they felt that it was wrong. I think I liked them for a brief instant, but that's it. They shot a man in cold-blood before, so holding off from shooting Deloris was a little too late.

This is so funny. Mary Patrick: "Hi, excuse me. Sorry, has anyone seen a nun? A Carmelite nun? No? Sure? Thanks".
Kathy Najimy was so funny in this movie. She made a good nun.

When the character of Mary Robert sang, an actress named Andrea Robinson did the voice. That was the only voiceover in the movie, the rest of the actresses that played the choir nuns used their real singing voices.

The part of the Pope was played by an actor named Eugene Greytak. What an outstanding resemblance! I thought it was the real Pope myself until I read the credits.

Far from it. Whoopi had several successful movies before this one, including "Jumping Jack Flash". "Sister Act" is probably one of my favorites with her in it.
Nobody knew how big of a success it was going to be. The movie blew audiences away with the stellar performances by Whoopi and the supporting characters. It was so good, in fact that it spawned a sequel, which was just as excellent. In my opinion, this is one of the best roles for Whoopi to date.
