Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the start of the movie, we witness an attempt on Queen Amidala's life.

Answer: False

"Attack of the Clones" is chronologically set ten years after the Trade Federation made a treaty with the Emperor and attacked the Planet of Naboo in "The Phantom Menace". In that film, Natalie Portman starred as Queen Amidala. Her actual name is Padme Amidala, but in this movie, she is no longer the Queen, as her two terms were up.

She has become a Senator and was dispatched to Coruscant to vote on a very important issue: whether or not to build an army to protect the Republic against several growing separatists.

The Jedi, as Mace Windu puts it, are peacekeepers and not warriors.
2. Many things that occur in the prequel ("Episodes I-III") are events that foreshadow things that will occur in the trilogy ("Episodes IV-VI"). Which of the following quotes from "Episode II" is one of them?

Answer: "Why do I get the feeling that you are going to be the death of me?"

Obi-Wan tells this to Anakin as they are entering a bar, in the entertainment district of Coruscant, where a changeling named Zam Wesell was hiding. The changeling had just attempted to kill Padme and was trying to escape. Anakin and Obi-Wan had split up during their pursuit of Zam Wesell and Anakin lost his light saber. When they meet up again at the bar, Obi-Wan starts to lecture Anakin for losing the light saber and Anakin replies with "Yes, master...yes, master...I try, master." This is when Obi-Wan states the above quote, which of course, does occur in "Episode IV", when Darth Vader kills Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Almost every main cast member seems to state, "I've got a bad feeling about this" one time or another throughout the movies, but it does not indicate foreshadowing. Obi-Wan told Count Dooku that he would never join him and never does. "He is too old to begin the training," was stated by Yoda about Anakin in "Episode I" and about Luke in "Episode V".
3. Anakin is told by the Jedi counsel to escort Senator Amidala back to Naboo, for protection. While on Naboo, they discuss politics. Padme, who claims that she is always looking for a diplomatic solution, attempts to explain why things in the Senate have not flowed smoothly, as politicians do not always agree. Anakin then suggests a system of government that Padme scoffs at. She claims that it sounds an awful lot like a(n) __________?

Answer: dictatorship

The difference between the system that Anakin proposes and the one that exists is that in Anakin's system, the people should be "made to agree". The Galactic Senate is full of corruption and seems to stall or malfunction when serious issues are at hand.

There are several star systems, all with varying opinions, needs, and desires, which are hard to keep in line even during times of peace. What Anakin proposed, in theorem, would be good for the people, as it would make sure that the majority opinion would be enforced.

However, in reality, the good of the people is not always on the agenda, as evidenced when Anakin becomes Darth Vader and makes good on his suggestion. Fear becomes the motivating factor instead of "the good of the people" and the bumbling senate is eventually dissolved.
4. Obi-Wan, who is on a quest to find out who killed Zam Wesell, finds a toxic dart in her neck. The analysis droids in the Jedi temple archives could not find out where it is from. He goes to find Dex, a friend of his, that is working at a cafe. Where does Dex tell him that the dart is from?

Answer: Kamino

Dexter Jettster, or Dex for short, was a wise creature that had "been around the galaxy". He immediately recognized the toxic dart to belong to the people of Kamino. He stated that it was the symbols on the side that gave it away. He then stated to Obi-Wan that the Jedi should know the difference between knowledge and wisdom. Obi-Wan's reply was that if droids could think, there would be no reason for anyone to even be around.

The definition of wisdom is knowledge applied. Obi-Wan sought out all the knowledge he could find and then, being wise, sought out help of a different nature.
5. Obi-Wan travels to a planet to track down the bounty hunter who killed Zam Wesell. When he arrives, he finds that there is a huge clone army being built. According to the Prime Minister of the planet, Lama Su, which of the following statements is true about all of the clones?

Answer: The first brigade of troops were ready.

The clone army was supposedly at the request of Master Sifo-Dyas, almost 10 years ago and they were all modeled after the bounty hunter, Jango Fett. Jango stated that he has never heard of Master Sifo-Dyas, as Lama Su stated and was recruited by a Lord Tyrannus.
The first troops were grown and ready as they had had their growth accelerated and could think independently, making them far superior to the droid armies (Boba Fett, however, was the one exception to this rule. Boba was an unaltered clone that did not have his growth acceleration tampered with). He was compensation for Jango Fett. Lama Su never questioned why they were being built, as he was only interested in money. The only clone that was not tampered with was named Boba Fett, at the request of Jango. We see him again later in the trilogy.
"Attack of the Clones" brings about many impending issues in society today, such as cloning, politics, and the fall of democracy.
6. Count Dooku was actually double-crossing the separatist star systems that opposed the Republic.

Answer: True

Count Dooku was getting the leaders of the Trade Federation and the leaders of the Commerce Guild to combine their droid armies in an effort to overwhelm the Jedi. However, he knew all along that the clone army was being created. In fact, he was also known as Lord Tyrannus and was the man that hired Jango Fett to model the clone armies after, on Kamino.

The whole idea was to pit both sides against each other and start a war.
7. Which of the following is NOT forbidden for a Jedi?

Answer: Love

The definition of love is supposed to be unconditional and therefore is not forbidden in any way for Jedi Knights. Anakin was explaining this to Padme while en route back to Naboo from Coruscant. She had asked if Jedi were allowed to fall in love and he responded that compassion is a component of unconditional love and that they are encouraged to have compassion.

The problem is that love and need are highly correlated and need causes possession and attachment. It should not be mistaken for love.
8. Which of the following is the correct order from teacher to apprentice?

Answer: Yoda - Count Dooku - Qui-Gon Jinn - Obi Wan - Anakin

We witnessed Qui-Gon Jinn mentor Obi Wan Kenobi in the "Phantom Menace" and Obi Wan mentor Anakin Skywalker in "Attack of the Clones". While Obi Wan was captured on Geonosis, Count Dooku tells him that Qui-Gon was his Padawan learner. At the end of the film, Yoda refers to Count Dooku as his old Padawan.
9. Who was the Viceroy of Alderaan?

Answer: Bail Organa

Played by Jimmy Smits, Bail Organa was an influential leader that sat on the Galactic Senate and was instrumental in the debate against the creation of an army for the Republic. Later in the series, after Padme Amidala has twins, he adopts Leia, to hide her from Darth Vader, who is her real father.
10. R2D2 (the unheralded hero of all of these films) saves one of the main character's lives in this film. Who was it?

Answer: Padme

After Anakin and Padme travel to Geonosis in an attempt to rescue Obi Wan Kenobi, they find themselves attacked by Geonosians in the droid factories. C3P0 and R2D2 follow them and when Padme falls into a bin that is about to be covered in molten liquid, we find that R2 has the ability to fly. R2 flies to the computer that controls the machines and shuts off the valve that pours the molten liquid.
