Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In which movie does Tom Selleck kiss Kevin Kline on the mouth?

Answer: In and Out

The answer is "In and Out" in which one of Kevin Kline's former drama students says that Kevin was gay, in a television acceptance speech for an acting award. Tom Selleck plays a reporter who saw the speech on TV and kisses Kevin.
2. In which movie does a man travel back in time to become his own grandpa?

Answer: Time Rider

In the movie "Time Rider", some scientists are attempting to zap an object in the desert into the past and bring it back. However, a man riding on a motor cycle gets in the way and gets zapped into the past. The scientists discover who the man was, and find out that the woman in the past who the "time rider" hooked up with was in fact his grandmother, so the man was his own grandpa.

The film was written by Michael Nesmith, formerly of the singing group "The Monkees".
3. Which of these movies does NOT have a gay American Indian?

Answer: Johnny Guitar

"Can't Stop the Music" involved the singing group the Village People, which had recently "come out", and ironically starred Bruce Jenner, and included men dressed as a cowboy, construction worker, American Indian, etc. "The Villain" was a comedy western starring Kirk Douglas as the villain and Paul Lynde as an American Indian. "Little Big Man" starred Dustin Hoffman as a white man who sometimes lived with American Indians, including a gay American Indian who had a crush on him. "Johnny Guitar" had no American Indians, but it was a Western movie involving Joan Crawford and people accused of robbing a bank.
4. In what movie does Marlon Brando kiss Matthew Broderick on the mouth?

Answer: The Freshman

In "The Freshman" Matthew Broderick plays a college student who gets involved with a gangster who looks like Don Corleone, because he is played by Marlon Brando, who had played as Don Corleone in "The Godfather".
5. In which movie does a woman NOT romantically kiss her brother?

Answer: Sleepwalkers

The answer is "Sleepwalkers" which involved mother and son vampire-like creatures looking for victims in a suburb (The mother and son did kiss each other, and more.) In the other three movies, a woman ends up kissing or going to bed with someone who turns out to be her brother. Of course, in the third "Star Wars" movie, it turns out the princess and Luke Skywalker are siblings, although they kissed in "Star Wars" and "The Empire Strikes Back".

In "Excalibur", King Arthur's sister uses magic to make him think she's his wife.

In "The Hotel New Hampshire". Rob Lowe's character is obsessed with his sister, played by Jodie Foster.
6. In which movie does a man prevent a teenager from getting killed so that the teenager can grow up and travel back in time to become the man's father?

Answer: Terminator: Salvation

The "Terminator" series of movies have lots of action and involve time travel and some probing to unscramble what happened and get to the basic plot of what's going on. Ironically, "Terminator: Salvation" is the one movie of the series in which no one time travels.

However, it is necessary that you see and understand at least the first "Terminator" movie to know what's happening. At the very end of "Terminator" it is revealled that Kyle not only was sent back in time by John Connor to stop John Connor's mother from getting killed by the terminator, but he also impregnated her, which resulted in the birth of John Connor, which means Kyle was the father of John Connor, although Kyle had come from the future.

In the future, during the war between the people and the machines, John Connor was older than Kyle. Kyle was still a teenager when he had been captured by the machines.

The "Resistance" made plans to blow up the machine headquarters where Kyle and a bunch of people where being held. John Connor told the "Resistance" leaders that they should not kill innocent people, but the leaders insisted this was a chance to destroy most of the machines patrolling that area.

The real reason John Connor said this was to prevent the death of Kyle, which would prevent Kyle from growing up and getting in the time machine in the future to be sent into the past, the year 1984, to become John Connor's father. This is one of those time travel movies in which it will happen because it did happen (such as "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" and "Time Rider", etc.).
7. In what movie does Freddy Krueger kiss Jason's mother?

Answer: Freddy Vs Jason

One of the many sequels which copies "Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man", the movie "Freddy Vs Jason" involved killers from "Friday the 13th Part Two" and "A Nightmare on Elm Street" repeatedly "not killing" each other. In a nightmare Jason was supposedly having, Jason saw Freddy Krueger kissing Jason's mother.
8. In which movie does someone go back in time to explode the home planet of someone he blames for the destruction of his home planet?

Answer: Star Trek

The movie simply called "Star Trek", not be be confused with "Star Trek: The Motion Picture", or dozens of TV series, books, or other movies, used a time travel story to show the beginnings of James Tiberius Kirk and several famous "Star Trek" characters.

In this story, a Romulan spaceship appeared and attacked Capt. Kirk's spaceship while his wife was giving birth to James T. Kirk. The Capt. Kirk of this ship was James Kirk's father, who died in the attack. Eventually, it is revealed that the evil Romulan captain went there, after having travelled backward through time, because he was looking for young Mr. Spock, and he knew Spock had been friends with someone named Capt. Kirk.

It all began when a sun went supernova and destroyed planet Romulus in the future.

When Spock failed to prevent this from happening, the Romulan captain captured Spock and the "red matter" and travelled back in time and showed Spock, both "old" and "young", the destruction of planet Vulcan. It so happened that James T. Kirk, while still in training at Star Fleet Academy, and young Spock were sent to Vulcan to try to capture the Romulan ship, but planet Vulcan blew up anyway.

The Romulan next decided to blow up Earth, because Spock was half human. To find out how it turned out, watch the movie.
9. In what movie is Heather Langenkamp tongue kissed by a telephone?

Answer: A Nightmare on Elm Street

In the first "A Nightmare on Elm Street", Freddy calls Heather, and the phone comes to life, and a tongue comes out and sticks into Heather's mouth. She starred in all three "Nightmare" movies directed by Wes Craven, along with John Saxon. In the "New Nightmare", John Saxon and Heather Langenkamp played themselves rehearsing for a new movie while being haunted by Freddy Krueger, even though their characters died in "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors". Of course, the plot of these movies is that Freddy appears to people in their dreams and does strange things, eventually killing the person having the dream in their dream, which also kills them in real life.
10. In what movie does Barbara Hershey see her boyfriend taking a shower with a woman and a dog?

Answer: Take This Job and Shove It

In the movie "Take This Job and Shove It" Robert "Airplane" Hays alternately dates Barbara Hershey and a woman who has her pet dog with her all the time. The story involves a man sent to take over a brewery and make it go bankrupt so a bigger company could buy it cheap, but he decides to make it successful and keep it for himself, so he tells his boss to "take this job and shove it."
