Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which 2010 horror film was about an insane surgeon named Dr. Heiter, who kept three people hostage, and then performed a very disturbing surgical experiment on them?

Answer: The Human Centipede (First Sequence)

Dr. Heiter was a very disturbed man with too much time on his hands, obviously. He believed in his own sick and warped way that it was a wonderful idea to surgically attach three victims (two women and a man) to each other, from mouth to rear end, which would have given them one digestive system to share among the three of them.

Then they were made to crawl around on their hands and knees in order to get around, making them look like a "human centipede". This unusual film was directed, written, produced, and edited by Tom Six.
2. This 1987 horror film was about a mental patient who disguised himself as a surgeon and hid in a house where a girl and her friends were having a sleepover. He then proceeded to murder them one by one. Name the film.

Answer: The Last Slumber Party

This film was directed by Stephen Tyler (no, not the singer from Aerosmith), who also played the role of the maniac killer. He hid out in a house where some teen girls were having a slumber party. The girls' boyfriends decided to show up also, and unfortunately, they all wound up meeting their demise at the hands of the maniac, who was dressed in a surgical mask and scrubs.
3. This 1992 slasher film starred Larry Drake as an insane doctor who stalked a young woman named Jennifer, who was played by actress Holly Marie Combs. The name of this movie was called 'Dr. __________'. Fill in the blank.

Answer: Giggles

The very much insane Dr. Evan Rendell Jr. had escaped from a mental hospital and decided to return to his hometown in order to exact revenge for his father's death. The townspeople had murdered his father when they found out that he was killing his patients and was taking their hearts in order to try to bring his dead wife back to life.

After the death of his father, a police officer found Evan Jr. cutting his way out of his mother's dead body and laughing hysterically after being hidden inside her corpse for protection.

The name "Dr. Giggles" was given because of the mad doctor's creepy laugh!
4. In this 1982 slasher, Barbi Benton played the role of a woman who was stalked in a hospital by a maniac disguised as a surgeon. What was the name of this obscure horror film?

Answer: Hospital Massacre

Playboy Playmate Barbi Benton played the role of Susan Jeremy. While in school, she was admired by a boy named Harold, who pursued her constantly. When Susan started dating another guy, Harold murdered him in a jealous rage, then disappeared. Nineteen years later when Susan went to the hospital for a routine check up, people were turning up dead, and Susan was unable to leave. Someone in a surgical mask was up to no good, and was dead set on getting their revenge!
5. Which film from the 'After Dark Horrorfest III' film series starred Robert Patrick and Jenette Goldstein as a doctor and nurse who did some very bad things to their patients?

Answer: Autopsy

In this 2008 film, a group of friends wound up crashing their car while on their way home from partying at Mardi Gras. An ambulance appeared and took them to Mercy Hospital. But while they were there, it soon dawned on them that they seemed to be the only patients in this mysterious, out of the way hospital.

Unfortunately, during their stay, they had to deal with being "cared for" by the very unstable doctor and nurse that would not let them check out! Turned out the mad doctor was using the victims' organs in order to save his dying wife, and was using the hospital, which had been closed down for years, in order to serve his purpose.
6. This doctor once said that he had eaten a man's liver with fava beans and a nice chianti. Who said this?

Answer: Dr. Hannibal Lecter

Actor Anthony Hopkins played the role of Dr. Hannibal Lecter flawlessly. In the 1991 film, 'The Silence of the Lambs', it was during a conversation with FBI trainee, Clarice Starling, that Dr. Lecter said this very famous quote: "A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti." (Followed by some of his famous hissing).

This quote was ranked #21 on the top 100 movie quotations list from the American Film Institute. Dr. Hannibal Lecter, who was nicknamed, "Hannibal the Cannibal", was to some, one of the most feared characters in cinema history.
7. An obvious choice on the list of insane doctors would definitely be the doctor in the classic 1931 film, 'Frankenstein', which starred Boris Karloff as Frankenstein's monster. What was the first name of the monster's creator, Dr. Frankenstein?

Answer: Henry

Some horror fans may have considered Dr. Henry Frankenstein to be one of the most insane movie doctors of all time. His idea to create human life had failed, after all, for the fact that the wrong brain was accidentally used in his creation. I'm sure that other fans of the horror genre may agree that Frankenstein's monster was the role that Boris Karloff was most remembered for.

This film, as well as it's 1935 sequel, 'The Bride of Frankenstein', were both directed by James Whale.
8. What was the name of the 2009 Japanese horror film that was about a very rich, mad doctor who kidnapped a young Asian couple and then proceeded to torture them beyond belief?

Answer: Grotesque

There was not much of a plot to this extremely disgusting film, which was banned in Britain. In fact, one of the film's taglines was "'Saw' and 'Hostel' Were Just Appetizers"! The young couple was abducted and then made to endure all kinds of horrible ways of torture from a sick and twisted madman doctor. This controversial Japanese horror film was directed by Koji Shiraishi.
9. Which movie, which was released in 2005, was about some friends who went on a weekend getaway to Lake Totonka, only to become victims to a motorcycle riding deranged plastic surgeon and his nurses who were out looking for spare body parts?

Answer: Dr. Chopper

The five friends who decided to go to a cabin by the lake for the weekend wound up being stalked by the insane Dr. Chopper and his crew of equally crazy nurses. The doctor's own health had been declining, which caused him to ride around looking for victims. This was so he could steal their body parts from them for his own use in order to prolong his life.
10. In this 1966 cult film, a man named Arthur Hamilton was depressed and unhappy with his boring life, so he went to a secret organization which specialized in giving people another chance at life. Arthur was given a new face and identity to celebrate his new life with. Unfortunately, when the organization found out that he still wasn't happy, he wound up meeting an unfortunate fate at the hands of the surgeons who had changed his looks in the first place. What was the name of this film, which starred Rock Hudson?

Answer: Seconds

I didn't want to give away the ending of this film for anyone who hadn't seen it and might be interested. But hopefully those who have seen it would understand why I chose this film for one of the questions to this quiz. The organization which was known simply as "The Company" was not only weird and top secret, but cold and disturbing as well! Poor Arthur wound up realizing that changing one's looks and identity would not necessarily mean happiness.

The reason I considered this film to fall under the "insane doctors" category, was because of the ending. Any doctor that could have the same mindset of the surgeons in this film should not be considered "all there", in my book!
